Another Corrupt Democrat

In Oklahoma we have had a bit of a scandal.

Oklahoma State Auditor and Inspector Jeff McMahan resigned today after a jury had found both him and his wife guilty of illegally accepting campaign money, jewelry and trips from corrupt businessman Steve Phipps.

In return, the state auditor, with his wife's help, provided favors for Phipps' abstract companies, the jury determined.

Please note, in this entire article, there is no reference to the political party that McMahan is a part of. My first thought was that he is a Democrat. I did some looking. Yup. Democrat.

Now, to show how hard of a stand the Democrats in office take against corruption, they continued to let McMahan receive his pay, even though he was on leave to be tried for corruption.

Remember, when the Democrats rail about how we need to avoid the "Republicans' Culture of Corruption”. .. what they mean is that they want to replace it with their own.

I don't believe that corruption is owned by the Democrats.

It has spread, like a cancer, to both sides of the aisle.

Amazing how an ever-growing federal government can become corrupt.... something about always being able to expand power and use funds as they see fit.

I seem to remember a group of men fighting a war over corrupt governments abuse of power.... late 1700's I believe.

It is just sad to see that we no longer live in a time where we can tar and feather people.

My comment was intended to be humorous, please note the :) I included with it. I have never claimed that the Republican Party s immune to corruption. I do think the Republican Party is much less corrupt than the the democrat party.

but have had doubts recently... Maybe it's all the corruption that has occurred recently... or maybe the excessive purchasing power that they have found. Seems to me that there are no longer "public servants" but there are excessive "public beneficiaries". Parties seem to make little difference these days...

Admittedly I have been very disappointed by the betrayal of 94, but ultimately the Republican base is at least willing to challenge and sometime remove corrupt candidates from office in primaries. The Democrat base on the other hand almost never seeks to remove corrupt members from office.

I've seen pages where Republican transgressions are logged and kept forever, we need on on the other side. With all these Democrat scandals it's hard to keep track of them.

that reference to Michael Moore....a WARNING might be appropriate in the future :-)

Freedom of Religion NOT Freedom from Religion

I'm glad you liked the reference! lol.

The other one I'm fond of using (and no longer can) was in comparing how alike Obama and Hillary ACTUALLY are on policies...

I would say "They're so alike that during debates, I was amazed that they didn't yell at each other, then stop and stare into one another's eyes... then start making out."

There's just something about making people want brain-bleach that brings a smile to my face.

And I'm actually a pretty quiet guy. heh.

And, by the way, thanks for moving this post to the front page.

You know why? Because if it was a Republican, he would have resigned long before a conviction. Wm Jefferson is following the same script, with the national Dem party doing what they usually do - close ranks around a guy who is obviously guilty of multiple felonies related to selling influence. He will not resign until convicted, and maybe not even then. Meanwhile he remains a Congressman in good standing, and to the best of my knowledge, serves on significant committees in significant roles.

Jefferson is no longer on any committees. But he is still in the House, 'serving', as it were, and under no pressure from the Democrat Party to resign.
