This is not a diary about Mike Huckabee. This is, instead, a diary about perception.

Where did the notion originate that conservatives are nothing but a bunch of knuckle-dragging, mouth breathing, racist, sexist, homophobic, bigoted hate-mongers?

I’ve been a conservative for nearly ten years now, after overcoming a bout of liberalism that incapacitated my mental faculties during my high school years. In my time on the right side of the political aisle, I’ve been fortunate enough to meet countless like-minded folk who have been some of the nicest most sincere people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. I wouldn’t be able to find an angry bone in any of their bodies.

**Note: Although I have been a member for nearly two years, this is my first blog entry. Please be critical and rip it to shreds. No need to be nice; I should know better by now. Thank you.**

First, by way of introduction, I am a single, 28 year old Virginian who first became interested in politics around age 12 (I remember watching the Rush Limbaugh television show with my grandmother). By the time I reached high school, I was a far-left liberal who would have made Dennis Kucinich look like Barry Goldwater.
