Breakthrough in Non-Embryonic Stem Cell Research!!!

According to London's The Dail Mail researcher in Great Britain have just achieved a remarkable medical breakthrough: They have managed to grow a human liver in a lab using stem cells.[1] And the best part of this story is ... they didn't have to destroy an embryos to do it:
British scientists have grown the world's first artificial liver from stem cells in a breakthrough that will one day provide entire organs for transplant.
The technique that created the 'mini-liver', currently the size of a one pence piece, will be developed to create a full-size functioning liver.
Described as a 'Eureka moment' by the Newcastle University researchers, the tissue was created from blood taken from babies' umbilical cords just a few minutes after birth.
These same scientists predict that within "five years, pieces of artificial tissue could be used to repair livers damaged by injury, disease, alcohol abuse and paracetamol overdose."
Even as the new treatments and cures owing to adult stem cell research continue to stack up, the advocates of embryonic stem cell research continue to insist that only their kind of research holds the promise of major medical advances in the future. But as far as I'm concerned, if you haven't maxed out the potential medical breakthroughs that non-embryonic stem cells hold, you haven't done your job.

will someday also cure Brain-freeze!
Just a little levity, this is great news, I wonder how long before we will be able to regrow lungs and kidneys, maybe even a heart?

The same research is currently underway at Wake Forest University/Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. I'm sorry I can't recall the researcher's names on the spot-- brain freeze. I do recall that they've developed several of the patented techniques used for tissue regeneration and organ creation. This was all done using adult stem cells and umbilical cord blood. I learned of this from my neighbor, who is the Head OR Nurse at Baptist. I'll ask her to refresh my memory.
