Gee, you think Rudy's sensing an end to the McCain campaign?

Giuliani -- who, full disclosure, is my candidate of choice at the present time -- was caught on tape (HT: Drudge) saying that if he wasn't running, he'd be supporting John McCain.
There is only one explanation for this -- he thinks McCain is close to dropping out and he wants McCain's endorsement.
Pretty shrewd move...except I don't know how much value McCain's endorsement is going to bring to Giuliani, if he gets it.
Rudy's much more of a party guy than McCain ever has been -- or, at least, than McCain has been in the last 9 or 10 years. And the areas where they part ways from the conservative platform differ.
Giuliani just wants that endorsement when McCain finally admits reality and pulls the plug on this sham of a campaign.
I think you are correct. McCain likes Rudy the most out of his competition- so hopefully Johnny Mac drops out and throws his veteran support to Rudy. That will help in South Carolina and New Hampshire..

it's well known that Johnny Mc is a huge fan of Law and Order.. :P

Rudy knows that as well as anybody. It makes sense for him to try to scoop up McCain's supporters.

McCain may go down in flames but he will never drop out. But if he does, the candidate most aligned with his views is Fred Thompson. McCain was Fred's mentor in the senate and their voting record is almost indistinguishable.
Is there anything that isn't about how much Fred Thompson sucks, in your world?

Which is why I don't understand how all of the Fred fans here at RedState are so quick to slam McCain.

1) McCain voted for CFR and still thinks its the greatest thing in the world. Fred voted for it and is at least disappointed in how it turned out.
2) McCain is the godfather of illegal immigration. Fred has taken a stand against it.
3) McCain still thinks the "Gang of 14" is one of his greatest triumphs. Thompson believes that judges should get confirmed not traded around like baseball cards.
Disclosure: I'm leaning toward Romney and hoping Fred stops dragging his feet so I can make up my mind once and for all.

My first thought was RINO's of a feather flock together.
