By LoneStarSon
I am disheartened today, as I'm sure many are, that Sen. Thompson has withdrawn his candidacy. One of the things that drew me to Sen. Thompson, besides his straight talk, was his stance on illegal immigration.
My top two priorities have been the same since 9/11: 1. Who would be the most effective Commander-in-Chief? 2. Who fully understands the impact illegal immigration has on this nation and will stand to end it?

Posted at 12:00pm on Jan. 21, 2008 Fred Thompson Should Not Drop Out. This Race is Far from Over.
By LoneStarSon
There have been six contests so far, Iowa, New Hampshire, Wyoming, Michigan, South Carolina and Nevada. Out of those six, Fred finished third in Iowa and South Carolina and second in Wyoming. Stellar numbers, I know. However, this is not an ordinary primary and thus, it's not over yet.
If I were running Sen. Thompson's campaign, here is how I would do it. I would stay somewhat visible in Florida, if there is a debate I'd participate and hit everyone on that stage hard. I would hold a couple of rallies the day before and the day after the debate, but that would be it.

Posted at 3:42pm on Jan. 18, 2008 Seventeen Days or Four Years
By LoneStarSon
After the South Carolina Primary tomorrow, there will be 17 days left before SuperTuesday.
Most people are assuming that Thompson will drop out if he doesn't win tomorrow night. What Thompson has said is, that yes he has drawn a line in the sand there. He has said he needs to do very well in South Carolina.
What Mr. Thompson has yet to do is define what 'very well' means to him. I believe some want him out because he is pulling votes from their candidate. I feel the same way about their candidate pulling votes from Fred. However, it is not my place to tell candidate 'x' to get out of the race, no matter how much I may want to.

Posted at 11:23pm on Jan. 11, 2008 Just How Big Was Hillary's Lead in NH? Hand Recount Ordered
By LoneStarSon
Dennis Kucinich may or may not end up on the ballot here in Texas, but his complaining up north has worked.
New Hampshire election officials have ordered a hand recount of both the GOP and DEM Primary results.
I wonder if this will finally lead to the voters showing ID and actually being a resident of the state in which they vote?

Posted at 10:22pm on Jan. 11, 2008 Fred Has Huge Fundraising Day
By LoneStarSon
Fred Thompson brought back the Red Truck campaign for South Carolina on January 4, 2008. They asked for $540,000 by January 11, 2008. It was accomplished between 8:00 - 9:00 p.m. CT last night.
Since the debate, the total has gone from approximately $540,000 to $764,050 as of 8:19 p.m. CT tonight. That is an increase of $224,000 in 24 hours.
Now I know other campaigns have raised a lot more. I in no way wish to discount the efforts and achievements of others. However, since Fred and company brought back the Red Truck fundraising campaign before the Iowa caucus, I've been keeping track. This is the largest one day total for that particular fundraising campaign for his candidacy. The previous was around $120,000.

Posted at 7:01pm on Jan. 10, 2008 I know 'it's for the children', but whatever happened to Personal Responsiblity?
By LoneStarSon
I realize I'm only 32, so please forgive my youth, but seriously, whatever happened to Personal Responsibility?
My parents divorced in 1989, after 20 years and 1 day of marriage. My father is, well in my opinion, a waste of flesh and space. He set up through the courts to pay $1000/mo. in child support for me and my older sister. My mother asked for less because she knew she'd never get the $1000, despite my father owning his own business.

By LoneStarSon
We Americans are a peculiar people. Only three states have held their primary contests and yet here we are bickering over who should stay and who should go.
I am a FredHead, for those of you who have been hiding in a hole for the last few months. I am unashamed of who I support and who I believe would be one of the greatest Presidents in our lifetime.
I was born in April 1975. My mother was 23 when she became pregnant and subsequently gave birth to me. It was also at this time she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She had already been through one round of treatment when she found out she was pregnant. The doctor told my mother she would be better off terminating her pregnancy and would increase her chance of survival. Well clearly she didn't listen. In her eighth month, she was driving on a slick road near my childhood home and slid head-on into a telephone pole. She and I both survived. However, after my delivery, she did have to have an emergency hysterectomy.

By LoneStarSon
Bryan Scott Moron, of Burleson, Texas apparently was too stupid to realize you have to be 21 to drink in Texas. Even then, however, it's not legal to drive while under the influence.
FoxNews filed the report here:

I just wonder if he supported RP (no not Rick Perry, the other RP from Texas).
Fortunately, or unfortunately (still not su

Posted at 1:21pm on Jan. 8, 2008 Fred's Red Truck campaign for South Carolina
By LoneStarSon
Fred Thompson brought back the Red Truck to help raise donations for media ads in South Carolina on January 4, 2008 they announced a need for $540,000 to be raised by January 11, 2008.
According to www.Fred08.com $306,027 has come in so far (11:20a.m. CT). Not bad, not great, but not bad.
This is not an I love Fred blog, this is not an I hate Fred blog, please do not turn the comments into such. This simply is a blog updating those who should chose to read it as to where the fundraising campaign stands.

Posted at 11:33pm on Jan. 4, 2008 Send Fox YOUR question for the Myrtle Beach, SC debate.
By LoneStarSon
On www.foxnews.com it is asking us to send in our questions that we would like answered during the January 10, 2008 debate.
It reads in part:
"Include your name, town, state and contact number for verification.
Please keep your question sharp, brief and to the point. And let us know which candidate you'd like us to ask."
You can send your question to debate@foxnews.com
Let's see if we can spark a true debate, unlike the CNN/YouTube fiasco.

Posted at 4:54pm on Jan. 4, 2008 The Big Red Truck is back and Fred needs our help!
By LoneStarSon
Fred and company have reset the totals for the Big Red Truck fundraising campaign that began in late December.
They are now asking for $540,000 by January 11, 2008.
Come on FredHeads and those of you who aren't sure about Fred's viability. Every person counts, every vote counts and without your support, you're right, he won't be viable. If we are to have any chance at maintaining a conservative party and nation, Fred is certainly someone who has the credentials.

Posted at 9:19pm on Jan. 3, 2008 Sick of the infighting....Let's change things up
By LoneStarSon
I am a bit tired of reading the different diaries and comments slamming one another's chosen candidate, so I thought this might be fun.
I have been intrigued as to who might be a good vice-presidential candidate for the Republican nominee so if y'all would indulge me.
Here are the 'rules' for playing:
1. Please do not tell us who your particular presidential candidate is.
2. I'd prefer viable FEMALE candidates for VP (this means they must be of age for the position and living). I recommend listing females since our nominee is going to be a man and well women are just better looking (to me).

Posted at 2:35pm on Dec. 21, 2007 Is Fred Lazy or Just Bored?
By LoneStarSon
I have been reading, almost daily, how Fred D. Thompson does not have the 'fire in the belly' to be president. It's also commonly stated Thompson is just too lazy when he campaigns.
I have to shake my head in complete astonishment. First of all, just what is it do you 'Fred is too lazy' people think the President of the United States of America does?
Are we asking him/her to fight the terrorists, or any other enemy of our nation, in hand to hand combat? Are we suggesting that the president should be in charge of the maintenance of the White House and it's grounds? Seriously, please tell me what it is y'all think makes Fred D. Thompson 'too lazy' to lead this nation?

Posted at 7:20pm on Dec. 16, 2007 Why I am a FredHead and not a Huckabot
By LoneStarSon
I've been reading the many posts on why we shouldn't support Former Governor Huckabee and I'm shocked that I've yet to see anything about this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQbMnFl3DEU
I'm not sure how to properly put this youtube video in here, so I've done the best I can....
That video is from the CNN/YouTube 'debate'...Around minute mark 4:20 Anderson Cooper asks Former Governor Huckabee whether he would welcome the support of the Log Cabin Republicans. Former Governor Huckabee says (I'm paraphrasing) while he would welcome their support, it wouldn't change his views on gay marriage, etc. Around minute mark 4:50 he says, "I'll be anybody's president..."
