The AP and the Green Helmet guy

Good morning. Charles Johnson (LGF) put up a piece yesterday on the Associated Press standing behind Hezbollah operative Salam Daher, the "Green Helmet" guy who posed dead babies for the cameras at Qana.

The AP piece -- 'Green Helmet' helps rescue the wounded -- also contains an admission that this is, in fact, a Hezbollah propaganda show:

Bloggers have accused rescue workers and volunteers of showing off victims for the media. The Lebanese [Hezbollah] make no apologies for wanting the world to see the civilian suffering in the Israeli onslaught aimed at uprooting Hezbollah.

The Green Helmet guy? Why he's just a 20-year veteran of the Lebanese Civil Defense.

Daher was born in Marjayoun, the son of a construction engineer. He began hanging around with defense workers when he was just a boy, working as a volunteer when he was 12. He began civil defense work as an apprentice in 1986 and worked his way up the ranks.

"There was no school or anything that I went to for my job," he said. "I was assigned to a team and I learned from them."

And our non-skeptical press eats that propaganda like sugar candy. And they criticize weblogs for pointing out that their teeth are rotting.

(And the Green Helmet guy? He now has his own blog. In a sense.)
