That he's following the goings-on here in the US, and figuring that if he leaves for six months or so, he can just come back after we quit.

We would also like to know your advice for somebody like my daughter, who's going to graduate in two years, advice that you would give a young person.

after all the insurgents know all they have to do is wait it out, because congress is intent on setting deadlines, and if they do end up defunding, they will know just how long they have to wait.

Iran is a nice safe place to be at the moment for him.

It's the Administration that described this as a surge, implying that it's going to go a way in a little while.

If:

(a) We have enough troops to sustain the escalation indefinitely;

(b) The escalation actually results in our presence improving the situation in Iraq; and

(c) the American people will support a permanently increased presence,

then I'm all for saying let's do it.

But I suspect that neither (a) nor (b) are true, and unless they are, (c) won't be either. And at the end of the day, it's no good blaming congress, because if we were being successful, the American people would support it, and, as a result, so would they.

The Surge™ is a term created by the partisan press.

"It's the Administration that described this as a surge, implying that it's going to go a way in a little while."

IIRC, President Bush describes the tactical adjustments and changes in the Rules of Engagement as "a new way forward in Iraq."

Unless the Democrats have the courage to actually cut the funding for our troops, our presence in Iraq will last for decades, or until we stand victorious over the Islamic Fascists.

I guess one might stretch the term and could call that expanded time-frame "a little while."

"This PROVES we don't need a surge. And also, that we should censor Bush."

An Army friend of mine just sent me this great T-shirt. It says;

"Army Sniper, You Can Run But You'll Just Die Tired".

Do you think Muqtada saw it?

Gee is this inappropriate?

Our servicemen are phenomenal, fantastic, wonderful and impressive.

I meant what I said and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful 100 percent.

But they aren't involved with the situation in Iraq. I heard it on The View. Or maybe it was famed Nazi hunter Dick Durbin. One of those.

Per Reuters

BAGHDAD, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Radical Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr is still in Iraq and has not left for Iran, several of his aides said on Wednesday, after American officials suggested he may have departed to avoid an offensive against militants.

The conflicting reports over the anti-American cleric's whereabouts came after Iraq said on Tuesday it would close its borders with Iran and Syria and lengthen a night curfew in Baghdad to try to curb unrelenting violence in the capital.

Four Sadr aides said he was still in Iraq, with some saying he was in the holy Shi'ite city of Najaf but had reduced public appearances for "security reasons". They did not elaborate.

"He is now in Iraq," Nassar al-Rubaei, head of the Sadrist bloc in Iraq's parliament, said without giving further details.

"now," as in, "he's now in Iraq." Perhaps he had been in Iran for one reason or another. Of course, they could also be lying.

US Troops Can't Find al-Sadr

Dems say: First Osama, now Muqtada

I smell a *big SCOOP* coming here, folks! Especially for that grizzled veteran and all around bon-vivant, Mike Wallace. I sense that he might come out of retirement one more time to interview Moqtada, and call him:

"An Impressive Fellow" ...
and...
"...in a strange way, he’s a rather attractive man, very smart, savvy, self-assured, good looking in a strange way.”

Watch this space...

In Iran, al Sadr is not called a refugee -- he's an honored guest!

If the Democrats weren't so invested in having the United States lose a war- we would actually be able to win relatively quickly.

But the enemy pays more attention to our politicians than Americans do. They know that all they have to do is launch a suicide bombing a day- and the liberals will force us out of the Middle East.

can you imagine how fast we'd win?
