Posted at 3:58am on Feb. 13, 2008 IN-02: Democrat Joe Donnelly Gets A GOP Challenger

By Mayhem

Republican Luke Puckett announced yesterday that he will be challenging freshman Rep. Joe Donnelly for his seat in Congress. Puckett is an area businessman and former missionary to Cuba, and is is well versed in international politics, particularly that of Central and South America.

As you will recall, Joe Donnelly beat Rep. Chris Chocola (R), in the 2006 election. Indiana was one of the hardest hit states, proportionally, in the Democrat sweep. The state lost three Republicans in 2006, and its Congressional delegation went from 7-2 in favor of the GOP to 5-4 in favor of the Dems.

Posted at 9:01pm on Nov. 8, 2006 John Boehner is not the right guy

By Mayhem

Perhaps some of you may disagree, but Mr. Boehner does not strike me as the man who should be the face of our opposition. To me, at least, he comes across as too "stiff" and "bland" to be our leader. He inspires me about as much as a bucket of glue. I know he has been Majority Leader for a very short time, but there is nothing wrong with saying a completely new and fresh face is needed. I don't want any semblence of the old leadership. Let's just start fresh and run like crazy towards 2008.

A South Bend Tribune-WSBT-TV poll conducted by Research 2000 came out today. It shows Joe Donnelly leading Rep. Chris Chocola by only 3 points, 50-47, with 3 percent undecided.

This is the 3rd poll commissioned by the Tribune in the last month. The first poll showed Donnelly up 48-42 over Chocola. The 2nd poll (released about a week and a half ago) showed Donnelly with a 50-45 percent lead over Chocola, with 5 percent undecided.

Posted at 6:47pm on Nov. 1, 2006 GOP Leaders Who Accept This "Apology" Are Weak

By Mayhem

The latest Kerry statement has just come out, and, already, I'm hearing leading conservatives accept it as sufficient. Whatever! All Mr. Kerry has done is continue to shift blame on the source of this controversy, saying that he regrets getting "misinterpreted." Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that merely saying "I'm sorry for gettng caught?"

The leaders of the Republican Party need to continue to press the senator for a real, unqualified apology to our service men. Sadly, it seems, that's not happening. John Boehner and the White House Deputy Press Secretary have already said that this, essentially, ends this issue. Well, I'm sorry, but I take issue with that.

Posted at 5:34pm on Sep. 19, 2006 IN 02: More bad news for Chocola

By Mayhem

Poll: http://southbendtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060919/NEWS07/6...

The South Bend Tribune just released a poll on the heated congressional election between Joe Donnelly (D) and Rep. Chris Chocola (R). The poll shows Donnelly ahead 50 percent to Chocola's 42 percent, with 8 percent undecided.

Constituent Dynamics completed a round of polling last week, showing Donnelly up 52-40. So, this new poll should only add to the concern that Chocola really is in a bad position.
