Couldn't help but notice the attention that sequestering CO2 in the name of preserving the planet. There's a 2005 study done by Richards and Stavins on Forest sequestration. This last weekend,while browsing through a column in the NYT, there was a column on the problems that trying to achieve a sequestration program is running into due to the high costs.
Remember all the oil wells that went abandoned in the USA years ago? An efficient way to recover oil from these wells is to use the CO2 from a natural CO2 well that Denbury resources has rights to. They are busy purchasing many of these old wells at a discount and will break even with $60/ barrel oil.

There's a great institutional research blog that says that there is plenty of room for oil to go up and that the price rises will continue so much so that the Fed will be forced to act.
I recently purchased a basic financial market manual by John J Murphy, who on one page showed that a weak US dollar coincides with strong commodities prices.
This week is a case in point. Oil and the Euro rose, a 95% relationship BTW, on Wednesday and today. Every time there is a housing report, like today, showing less real estate was purchased, a sign of a weakening economy, the Euro rises as well as the price of oil. Its become a negative feedback loop. > Bad US economice reports>rise in Euro>weak US dollar, higher crude prices>weaker US consumer spending> US weaker economy. Needless to say, if you go to the stockcharts website you can see for yourself that commodities, see the CRB index of charts there, really took off in Feb 2007 when the subprime news first broke. It was a sure bet against the USD due to the implications for a weaker economy.

Recently a Contract with America brainstorming blog posted with the idea that the corn subsidies should end. Sen Hutchinson proposes the idea of freezing current ethanol production, so that progress toward the total current corn crop being produced by 2022 doesn't progress any further for the time being to assess the move towards the subsidized fuel.
Of course a problem with the above cold turkey government cutoff is that Billions have already been spent on the ethanol refining capability.

I've received fundraising requests from the RNCC and Mitch McConnell's office. McConnell is specifically being targeted by MoveOn.org. I'm a Mitch McConnell fan. What was extraordinary was that both appeal letters appeared with only solicitations without any agenda of what they would pursue. Their role has been spoiler of the radical left agenda, I'll give them some credit.
People are starved for Conservative leadership.

I don't even know what a Hamas editorial on the Pastor Wright's church bulletin would have to do with the black value system. So buckle up and I might be able to provide a lead to further understanding this idea and the Hamas connection.

Obama is the left's anti war candidate. He's got the courage to talk to any American enemy to show them where we stand. Is there any cause for which he would do the "right" thing?
Recently, Colombian troops raided a FARC base in Ecuador and came back with a computer showing evidence that Hugo Chavez was indeed behind funding the Marxist rebels named FARC, that regularly raided Colombian land.

When the announcement for a request for a stimulus package was made, it in effect requested a package that would be significant, enacted soon and temporary due to the pending increased entitlement spending that is needed soon. So far I have been uncommitted in the race for the Republican nomination for president. Until I read more widely campaign web sites, so on a first look impression I submit the following.
So after perusing many of the web sites, Duncan Hunter is my top choice for president because he is an ex Ranger, and has taken part in writing the law to establish the fence on the southern border.
I found his campaign web site to be the most detailed out of any of the candidates, including Romney, Giuliani, Thompson and Huckabee.

Good perspective offered on the Bush years in regards to spending, taxes, the military and national security. A 2000 lunch between Greenspan, Bush and Cheney involved a discussion of a possible recession due to the breakdown in the dot com industry. This started prior to the 9/11 attacks and subsequent 1 million job losses.

I pity this Congress for lack of economic common sense. This story is unreal, so much so I can't find the vitriol to get past my speechless state. This is so nasty as to wonder if I would get sued for libel if my source is wrong.
Maybe the trip from Greenpeace had something to do with this Camel shiznet.

Until now, I've found a divergence between the empirical results of current federal revenues and steps recommended from people who quote economists. As late as last night, I wanted to disregard all economists or people who quoted economists cause they didn't recognize the fact that we've had record setting revenues, even when the GDP was down, the revenues as percentage of GDP was up as well as the numbers were enough to bring the debt to GDP down to 1.2% by the fiscal year end. To think that the revenues could have been higher with slightly higher tax rates is-- well-- you fill in the blank--exasperating.

To keep Bush tax cuts or not? Economic riddle of the day. Heritage Foundation and Concord Coalition both have charts from the 2005 time frame that show the deficit no where's near where the current end of year forecast of a deficit at 1.2% of GDP or approximately $158 Billion. Revenues inflows are $47 Billion above the White House estimates from March 2007.
The first Baby boomers are due to retire in 2009. The non partisan CBO would rather have the higher pre Bush tax rates to compensate for the increased spending that the 2009 boomers will need.

As a big fan of Crichton's State of Fear and the editorials supporting the Anti Global Warming Science, the following information was a big surprise. That is that China and India may contribute to a local atmospheric warming through their cow dung and wood burning ways. So much so that atmospheric temperatures can differ by 50%, at least in China and India.
