By MelZ

Memo to Jesse Jackson,

You may want to cut off Obama's nu__s, but let me just save you some time.

Based on recent campaign changes; Iran not a threat/grave threat, supports gun ban/supports lift on gun ban, supports born alive infant act/does not support abortion, needs support of Pfleger, Rezko, Aires, Wrights/they were not the men he once knew....

I am pretty sure someone already did that job for you. But thanks for the reminder of what a stand up Reverend you are.

Posted at 4:51pm on Jun. 27, 2008 Oil Company's Take On High Prices

By MelZ

I finally had the chance to sit down with my uncle, CEO of an oil distributor for Shell Oil.

Below are the questions I asked and the answers he gave. He has been with this distributor for over 30 years. He is the kind of guy that will tell you like it is, no matter what the circumstance.

Q) Who are this big, evil oil companies? Are you an "evil" oil guy?
A) Exxon, Shell, Phillips, Texaco are the "evil" oil companies, I just distribute for one of them since we don't have any major oil company headquarters any where around here.

Posted at 12:12pm on Jun. 19, 2008 I Am A Dork

By MelZ

I just wanted to state, when I saw a recent blog I posted had been recommended, I danced around my house for about an hour.

My husband pointed out to me that this made me an official dork, but I will say for the record that it just shows my admiration for RedState.com, its members, and its leaders.

It is still possible that I am a dork as well, but I am a dork for so many reasons that dancing around in delight over a recommendation.

Posted at 1:29pm on Jun. 18, 2008 I am sorry. Who said drill only?

By MelZ

I am sick, and I mean SICK of hearing this...

"We cannot drill our way out of this."

I have searched and I cannot find any, single, one Congressmen, political pundit, radio show host, etc., that has said:

"If we just drill off the coast, in ANWR, in the Dakotas now, all our problems will be solved forever."

Nope. Haven't heard that. So I am wondering who in the ever living he!! is Obama, et.al., speaking to!?

Posted at 6:44pm on Jun. 11, 2008 Indirect Effects of High Cost of Fuel

By MelZ

I realize more and more each day that there must be some requirement in Congress, to be a member you must lack any foresight.

Each day we see decisions made without any concern to what the effects in the future may be.

We see what the whole ethanol "thing" has done to the cost of food. I bet NO ONE could have seen that one coming.

So recently Democrats have brought forth bills (that thankfully have been shut down) like Cap-and-Trade and "Windfall Profit Taxes". RAISING TAXES on already expensive energy.

Posted at 10:13am on Jun. 10, 2008 The Only Way To Reduce Cost of Fuel

By MelZ

According to local news-our ABC affiliate- last night (Monday, June 9, 2008) the "ONLY way we can lower the cost of gas is by buying less". The entire story was about how we should change our daily routines/habits to accommodate the rising cost of energy.
There was no mention on the high taxes of gas imposed by our government and the movement in our Congress to raise those taxes.
They did not mention the amount of oil available on U.S. soil (or in/below rather U.S. soil) that is not being tapped.

Posted at 10:32am on Jun. 4, 2008 Hillary as VP

By MelZ

Last night it finally hit me, something that I have been avoiding, something that of course has been in the air but I have been rejecting.
Will Obama extend an invite to Clinton to run on his ticket, will she accept?
Since day one of the primaries, I have looked at this Obama character and wondered how he got to this point. I knew that the hysteria surrounding him was nothing more than a fad, like tight rolled jeans, sushi and global warming. Then, suddenly the unimaginable happened, the country got tired of the Clinton's. The media jumped into the inexperienced, rhetoric filled boat of Obama.

Posted at 10:52am on May 30, 2008 The Liberals Are Not Talking Fuel

By MelZ

It is true that I have some subconscious need for pain that drives me to troll liberal blogs every once in a while.

Of the few sites I check here-and-there, I have noticed a HUGE difference in their conversations and the ones on Conservative blogs. (Well, aside from their foul language and hatred for everyone not liberal).

They are NOT discussing the price of fuel. THE major issue for all Americans right now is the cost of energy. Over 1,000 independent truckers have lost their jobs, meaning less groceries on your grocer's shelf at higher prices. Small businesses who employ over 60% of Americans are struggling. Here on RedState, Human Events and several other Conservative blogs I frequent or fly-by, the cost of energy is the number one topic of discussion. Yet, the liberals are not discussing.

Posted at 2:33pm on May 21, 2008 Question for someone more educated than I on law and abortion

By MelZ

I have a question. I recently posted his question to the liberals on the local liberal blog in my town.

The way I understand it, abortion is legal because the unborn are not yet human. Or at least up to a certain stage in most states they are not yet human. I am good so far?

Also, the way I understand it, if I were to kill a pregnant woman I could also be charged with murder of manslaughter of her unborn. Is this correct?

Posted at 11:42pm on May 19, 2008 Thinking Things Through

By MelZ

This gripe transcends party lines in general, but is consistently apparent in Liberal policies.

I am pretty young, but I worked for 6 years in marketing/development for a higher ed institution. I worked for about one year at a fairly large ad agency, and now I am the Dir. of Development for a non-profit organization. At EVERY single job, I have sat down with my boss, co-workers, board members, etc. periodically to make decisions. When big decisions need to be made, we list pros and cons. We think through any possible issues that may arise, what may be an indirect negative, what might cause problems. We are as proactive as possible, because being proactive is much less time consuming and much less expensive then being retroactive.

Posted at 3:07pm on May 5, 2008 Responding to Paul J. Cella

By MelZ

I began this as a reply, but it got too long and I was on too much of a roll, so I decided to blog about it.

Thank you Paul for posting "Just Like T. Crown's Blues". I would never had seen it otherwise. And, yes I believe Obama is a bad man.
I am not VOTING for Obama because I don't agree with his almost $1 Trillion spending package to take care of Americans and beyond at the expense of my pay check.

Posted at 3:41pm on Apr. 23, 2008 Dangers of Energy Efficient Light Bulbs

By MelZ

I am flabbergasted at how much hype the new energy efficient light bulbs are receiving (okay, maybe not flabbergasted, but disgusted anyway).
In the research I have done (which has not been too extensive) everything points out that though the lights contain a small amount of mercury, there is no danger in using the bulbs. There are mentions that one should be careful in disposing of them, because they should not simply be thrown away.

Posted at 10:28pm on Apr. 18, 2008 Ben Stein A Real Patriot

By MelZ

Just got out of the 7:05pm showing of Expelled-No Intelligence Allowed, and I cannot say enough good things about this movie.
The one bad thing I can say, is I did in fact have to sit through the pre-previews of Solving the Climate Crisis crap, but other than that, it was a great experience.
The theater was sold out for the 7 and 10 shows on this the opening night.
I won't ruin the film with a run through, but will say I will probably go see it again. I will also say, the suppression of speech on Intelligent Design is much like we see in the suppression of speech on those that might have another theory on man-made global warming.

Posted at 11:39am on Apr. 18, 2008 Been to the movies lately?

By MelZ

Last Friday night, it was late and I was bored. I went to a movie by myself and got there way too early. I was there to see all the "ads" before the actual previews begin.
What types of ads show prior to the previews? Well, GO GREEN ads of course.
I sat through about 15 minutes of this nonsense. Being by myself there was no one to rant to, so I just ranted slightly out loud to myself. Here is a little description of what I saw.

Posted at 12:02pm on Apr. 17, 2008 Action Alert Abstinence v. Safe Sex

By MelZ

Dear RedState Friends,
I know sex ed in the class room is a hot topic, but whether we like it or not it exists. It is on the playgrounds, in the hallways and in the lunch rooms. Fifteen years ago abstinence education groups began to form to combat this problem. However, liberal leaders did not appreciate this, so they started throwing money at groups like Planned Parenthood. "Safe-sex" educators receive TWELVE dollars to every ONE dollar received by abstinence educators. Abstinence is truly a comprehensive educational program. They teach about birth control methods (though not how to use them), they teach about STD's, pregnancy, choices and self-worth. "Safe sex" education on the other hand only dedicate about 5-10% of their curriculum to mentioning that abstinence is "available". The majority of schools today have some form of safe-sex program in their class rooms, yet teen pregnancy and STD's continue to rise....
