Kansas Gov. Has Not Even Asked for Help?

Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sibelius (D) who has been saying National Guard assets don't exist in other states to help Greensburg disaster victims hasn't even asked for them yet, according to National Guard sources statements to HUMAN EVENTS today.

On NBC's “Today Show" Gov. Sibelius said "Fifty percent of the equipment is gone and we can't borrow from other states because their equipment is gone."

H.E. spoke with Cpt. Spicer of the Missouri National Guard to inquire how much help Missouri would be able to provide. Cpt. Spicer answered that “We have not been asked for help.”

We asked Cpt. Spicer if Gov. Sibelius was to ask the Missouri National Guard for assistance, would they be able to help?

“Whenever we are asked for help we do our best to provide it, for instance when Louisiana needed help we sent 2000 soldiers and airmen in, in a period of 72 hours.”

White House spokesman Tony Snow has responded to Sibelius’s statements saying "There's been an enormous amount of help on the scene already, frankly, when it comes to what's been going on with the tornado FEMA has certainly been actively engaged, and the administration is doing whatever it can." Snow said. “And if there's a need for equipment, it will arrive."

AP reported that Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting, said the Kansas National Guard was equipped to about 40% of its necessary levels and that about 850 soldiers have deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.

"It just leaves you pretty tight," he said. "We're fine for now."

The Dems and their “amen chorus” in the media should check facts before blaming the Iraq War for leaving American disaster victims unaided.

This has been directly contradicted by the NGB.

You're thinking of facts and she's talking about KnownFacts™.

It's interesting that Sibelius seems to have decided it's in her best interest to use Kathleen Blanco (Dimwit-LA) as a role model for how to lead her state through a disaster.

I'm sure the commercials are already being prepared showing how Bush's pro-global warming stance caused the tornadoes and then he abandoned the people of Kansas afterward.

There are that many people of color in rural Kansas for George Bush to hate, oh, I mean be indifferent to.

unless Tony and the Truth Squad go out and smack her down verbally. Sens. Brownback and Roberts were there with practically no media coverage.

And speaking of Senators, Feinstein of California gets a free pass for passing her hubby a billion dollars worth of contracts while on the Sen. Appropriations Cte. No media outcry, including from Fox NEWS.

is the free pass from the DoJ. Feinstein and Dollar Bill will be still be free and unhassled by AGAG in January 2009.

about how she only asked for radios and had already received them. That was a nice touch.

that Tony was wrong about that and later corrected himself. I'm from Kansas and Sebelius is a pretty good governor. She is definitely a moderate and that's about all Kansas is willing to elect right now. To win the governorship in Kansas you need to be a little R or a little D. Big R's and Big D's need not apply.

And I still think it was a nice touch.
Besides, the final word from the National Guard is that she was lying through her teeth and never asked about the availability of even her own state's NG resources, let alone ordered it deployed...

Blanco was a moderate for all I know, but it doesn't change the fact that she couldn't lead her way out of a paper bag in a time of crisis. Sebelius is probably the same. A failed leader is one that doesn't accept accountability but looks for scapegoats.

It has nothing to do with ideology. This one isn't about public policy, it's about leading effectively in a crisis, something Sevbelius like Blanco doesn't do very well.
