By Spartan4Life
I only call them the Democrat Party because it seems to drive them crazy.
With the stock market plunging again today and a seemingly endless summer of bad news yet to come, I think it is time for a little economic and political reality check. It seems like only yesterday that we had steady economic growth, low gas prices, and rising home values. What the heck happened?
I will tell you what happened. That crazy little, fun little, nutty little group called the Democrat Party got ahold of Congress, that's what. 2005 not looking so bad right now, is it America? Just wasn't good enough for you, was it America?

Posted at 4:02pm on May 13, 2008 The Biggest Government......Ever
By Spartan4Life
Okay. So it is official. We are now at an all time high for government spending AND revenue. Read about it here
There is so much wrong with this it is hard to know where to even begin. We have record revenues at the same time our deficit is spiraling up? This all happened under a "Republican" president and Congress? The Democrats want to raise our taxes even more? I just have to laugh when I hear President Bush saying we should give another $100B to Africa to fight aids, most of which ends up in the hands of corrupt politicians, BTW, or that we need to save Myranmar from the ravages of their cyclone. Doesn't anybody in Washington get it?

Posted at 1:52am on Feb. 22, 2008 Just Watched the Movie, "Michael Clayton"
By Spartan4Life
Loved it. Also have recently seen "Atonement" and "Juno". Loved all three.
I am a little bit strange. I am a movie LOVER that only sees 3-5 movies a year. Very picky. Hate garbage. Hate when movies have a political point of view. So, I am very selective.
However, I have to say, this year's crop is very, very, very good. I am not going to comment on Juno or Atonement, unless somebody asks me to. However, I am going to blog about "Michael Clayton" because I think it is an important film and one I think has much to say about where we are as a society and an economy and a culture.

Posted at 11:23am on Jan. 31, 2008 Is Bill Clinton the Most Corrupt Politician Ever?
By Spartan4Life
Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end.....
A blast from the past. Susan McDougal is back in the news. Not sure what she might be up to here.
As I was paging through my morning paper here in NW Arkansas, came across this article.
I seem to recall that Judge Howard was a Clinton lacky and there was some buzz at the time that he was sealing the testimony to protect his patron. Makes you long for the old days, doesn't it.

Posted at 12:14pm on Jan. 30, 2008 Even Average Americans Can Understand Supply Side Economics
By Spartan4Life
Rush talked about this article on his show yesterday.
It actually does a pretty good job of describing how supply side economics works. I think the average HS algebra student can understand the math. If consumer spending makes up 2/3 of the economy and those making $150,000 and more account for 40% of consumer spending, wouldn't increasing their taxes be a bad idea?

Posted at 7:21am on Jan. 26, 2008 "My Good Friend, Senator Clinton....."
By Spartan4Life
Is this how the debate is going to go this year?
This is something I have been concerned about and Billy Clinton referred to yesterday. I have been under the impression that John McCain and Hillarious have been pretty chummy in the past. Anybody else concerned whether McCain has the stomach for an all out knife fight with these people?

Posted at 3:05pm on Jan. 23, 2008 My Total SWAG at Florida Outcome Open Thread
By Spartan4Life
My gut is telling me the conventional wisdom won't hold up. What are they going to say when McCain finishes third?
Giuliani- 30%
Romney- 28%
McCain- 26%
Huck- 11%
Paul- 5%
Have at it.

Posted at 1:41pm on Jan. 22, 2008 America Needs a "Fix-It" Man
By Spartan4Life
America is broken.
As a Conservative, a Patriot, and an eternal optimist, I come to this conclusion reluctantly. I still believe we are the greatest country in the world. However, if we make the mistake of electing leaders who will take us in the wrong direction, we could become the next France.
Our politics are broken. We have big problems and two parties who are unwilling to work together to fix them in order to get or keep partisan advantage. We have a Federal Gov't that has become an unwieldy behemoth.

Posted at 12:41pm on Jan. 10, 2008 Will McCain Attack Rudy's Tax Plan?
By Spartan4Life
By saying the following:
"How are we going to "pay" for it?"
"It will increase the deficit."
"It favors the rich."
Congratulations to Rudy for laying down the gauntlet on taxes. It is the one issue that the Conservative Coalition can coalesce around.
