And yet another flareup of the Barack Obama Natsec Ignorance Field.

As part of what is turning out to be a darn fine interview by Jake Tapper, the junior Senator from Illinois had this to say:

And, you know, let's take the example of Guantanamo. What we know is that, in previous terrorist attacks -- for example, the first attack against the World Trade Center, we were able to arrest those responsible, put them on trial. They are currently in U.S. prisons, incapacitated.

As Confederate Yankee (link currently bad: go to the main site and scroll down to "Obama Gaffes Again") notes (Via AoSHQ), there's a small problem with that argument - and by "small problem with that argument," of course, I mean "a giant gaping hole in the narrative that reminds us why treating terrorist activities as being solely criminal matters is a breathtakingly stupid notion."

Though grossly neglected in the media, Abdul Rahman Yasin conducted the first attempted chemical weapons attack on U.S. soil by terrorists with the 1993 World Trade Center bomb. The bomb that detonated in the WTC garage in 1993 was built by Yasin to create smoke filled with sodium cyanide, which he hoped would rise through elevator shafts, ventilation ducts, and stairwells to suffocate 50,000 people.

[snip]

Yasin fled the United States after the bombing to Iraq, and lived as Saddam Hussein's guest in Baghdad until the invasion. He is still free, and wanted by the FBI.

Given that the FBI actually let him go in the first place, I imagine so. Does Senator Obama ever check any of this stuff? - because these are stupid mistakes, and easily avoidable ones. For that matter, what the heck's wrong with his staff? They should be giving him better prep work than this.

They get to make up the "Facts" as they go and get away with it.

To see and hear no evil that this is even a topic of discussion.

that the Blind Sheikh, who was convicted of that attack, sits in a US prison and was able to communicate with his followers - in direct contravention of the judge's orders - through his moonbat attorney. Said moonbat attorney got a slap on the wrist.

And these idiots want more of these folks on US soil? Sheesh.

These guys are a menace to hold in the general prison population.

Where the danger posed to them and the danger they would pose to others would be minimized.

And I am sure the Dems will "Discover" this five minutes we have the misfortune of losing an election to them.

I think this would be more appropriate:

Wouldn't want to endanger the Polar Bears...

Doesn't anyone think about the penguins?

--
Gone 2500 years, still not PC.

They are the middle class white male of the frozen wasteland; guilty of oppressing all the other fauna through a patriarchal societal environment and by building ice ceilings for others.

The only treatment they get is slapstick caricature in movies where they are shown as irresponsible bumbling fathers or suitable only for watching the eggs while the 'real' heros - the female penguins- are out risking life and limb for the unborn children and their slacker mates.

Polar bears and seals are the victims, mistreated through centuries of disenfranchisement, whose violent actions are excused or ignored as a product of this repressive cultural environment.

Thanks for calling attention to this travesty.

and two commentors reinforced my point that the people who support putting these guys in US prisons are idiots.
