Huck #2 in Nevada??

I understand posting poll results as a blog isn't everyone's favorite idea here at RedState, but this one is a bit surprising.

Mitt 29%
Huck 23%
Rudy 17%

Surprising in that Nevada is next door to Utah, a Mitt stronghold, and a state nobody confuses as being a stronghold for evangelicals.

Of note, Mitt's support in the state has been steady at this level. Huck seems to have gained a lot of his support (up from 2% in the last ARG poll there two months ago) from Rudy.

The bigger news is the decline of Rudy. Everywhere he is dropping.

Huck is rising in states he has never even foot in because of media puff pieces, his good performances in the debates, and the "new face" factor. We'll see who starts winning the actual primaries.

Are they similar to Iowa's in any way?

I expect Romney to win Nevada. I think there are a lot of Mormons there, but I'm not sure. He would have to collapse and lose New Hampshire to lose Nevada.

While not totally useless, They have ... interesting... methodology.

Sample Size: 600 completed telephone interviews among a random sample of likely Republican caucus goers living in Nevada (536 Republicans and 640 non-partisan (independent) voters).

This in a state where you have about a 6% turnout in the Caucus voting. so I wonder what their determination of 'likely' is. Ah well. maybe other groups will poll Nevada and we can see if this is representative or not.

Still impressive, and a little scary just how much difference free press can be for a fresh face.

even Republicans are to follow after the hype. It's getting harder and harder each day for me to believe a candidate of substance could ever stand a chance.

A candidate of substance could stand a chance if he had more charisma than my pinky toe.

Unfortunately, our candidates with charisma have other problematic issues, and our candidates with substance don't have charisma.

There used to be a time when GRAVITAS trumped CHARISMA. Fred Thompson has gravitas in spades, and that's what it more important in presidential politics.

Romeny really has three "home" states. He should win Utah and neighboring Nevada and Idaho. He should win Mass and neighboring NH, VT and ME and he should win Michigan, which really provides him with an advantage.

RealClearPolitics should ban them from their RCP Average.
