Mitt's Best Strategy is for Huck to STAY in the race.

You read this correctly.
Conventional wisdom is that Huck's withdrawal will result in his supporters flocking to Mitt's camp.
Not true.
A recent Gallup survey showed Huck's supporters favoring McCain by two to one over Mitt. Therefore, sans Huck, McCain would sweep most of the remaining primaries.
Ironic, isn't it, that Huck staying in the game helps McCain AND allows Romney to stay in the game.
And, Huck leaving the game gives the victory to McCain.
The logical conclusion, then, is to REALLY stop McCain, Mitt should withdraw and endorse Huckabee. Unless, of course, Mitt supporters' second choice is McCain...and, if that's the case, they shouldn't be griping so much about a McCain presidency.
And to be fair, another favorable Mitt scenario is for those Huck supporters whose second choice is Mitt to leave Huck for Mitt WHILE those Huck supporters whose second choice is McCain to stay with Huck. Follow me?
If you have two quarterbacks I'm telling you that you have no quarterback. If you have two anti-McCain options you have no anti-McCain option.

I am a Positivist Pastafarian for the alliteration alone.
And Romney should just get out!
He's staying in just to help McCain so he can beat Huckabee.
Its just so darn disgusting.

horse in SC, when (1) Fred got out of the race when it was clear he couldn't win; (2) Fred never endorsed McCain, disproving the stalking horse theory; and (3) Fred did actually criticize McCain, albeit lightly.
In contrast, Huckabee, the person who spoke out against the stalking horse concept, has never said squat about McCain, and is clearly staying in to help McCain beat Romney.
I like Huckabee supporters a lot more than I like Huckabee.
People are talking about "crying" on the part of Romney, but the reason that Romney supporters are so exasperated is because there have been no signs that Huckabee has a chance, and yet is staying in. Thompson at least had a shot until SC (where he then gracefully stepped out).
It is almost bold-face apparent that Huckabee is trying to be the spoiler for McCain and against Mitt, with the way that Huckabee glows about McCain to the point of wanting to give him hugs and hold hands, while he comes up with some conspiracy theory about Sean Hannity because Hannity is supporting Romney.
Hope that Secretary of Education position was worth losing a lot of people's respect.
Vote for the ulti-Mitt conservative. Romney '08!
DISCLAIMER: I am loosly affiliated as a volunteer for the Mitt Romney campaign. All viewpoints expressed are my own, not the campaign's.
The majority of Huckabee supporters will go to McCain. Why?
5 reasons
1. Romney is weak on the life issue. I'm still not convinced Mitt Romney is pro life.

2. McCain and Huckabee are both complex politicians, and I believe it's fair to say they're both mavericks. They have similar views on issues like the environment, immigration, and taxes. When I say this I'm looking at what they've done more than what they've said in the race.
3. McCain and Huckabee supporters share the common bond of disliking the Romney campaign. This alone should be enough for many of Huckabee supporters to vote for McCain.
4. Huckabee supporters are still livid for not getting a fair shake from talk radio. We see what they’re doing to McCain as the same passive aggressive tactic to move votes to another candidate. A vote for McCain is instant payback for what they did to Huckabee.
5.Huckabee will endorse McCain, and will ask his supporters to do as well.

Just because I don't want a socialist who has no clue about foreign policy to win doesn't mean I can't be angry that a liberal media-pleasing moderate won the Republican nomination.
Romney was my number 3 candidate and I pushed for him hard once Giuliani and Thompson left, but I would never nominate McCain or Huckabee for any party I am a member of. I'm not even 100% sure I'll vote for McCain in the general election, but I am leaning that way.
Isn't Huckabee stealing conservative voters from Mitt? How can he do that if he's a liberal? He's not.
At least according to self identified conservative voters.
Does that prove your point that he hurts Romney. Nope.
Michael Medved also ran the numbers. Huckabee is not hurting Romney. In the words of John O'Sullivan at NRO, today was a rejection of Romney. It has little to nothing to do with President Huckabee.
This wishful thinking of the punditry is catchy. I even heard it from a Fox News correspondent. But it is not supported by the available data. Even Snopes.com should refute it at this point.

There's some speculation on the net today that the WV win may be helping Huck in Alabama and Missouri. Wouldn't it be hilarious if Huck stole WTA Missouri out from underneath McCain?!?
I'm giddy just thinking about it!
