Red State's servers do get slow from time to time, to the point where they even stop responding. We know this, and we do take efforts to handle it.
What our readers can do to help though is simple: If you hit the button to post, and it doesn't get through right away, please do not press the button again until you are able to get through to the site and see if your first attempt succeeded. This will prevent duplicate posts.

I've gotten database unavailable errors three times today, and I've never once seen the error before.

It would be neat if for RS 3.0 the form buttons are self-disabling once you click them.
I know, I know. Not simple. But it would be cool.
In the meantime, although the Preview Button is your friend and the Post button is your voice, don't abuse them, peeps. The Internet is the most wonderful thing in the world but you'd be surprised what goes on between the instant you click POST and the time it reappears on the screen.
Frankly, it's amazing it works at all. ;)
