True Colors

I thought it was time to throw a couple of pennies in about the term Red State. There are many more pressing issues and concerns out in the great wide open. Nonetheless, this topic has been gnawing at me for some time.
How did we let The Mediacracy define us? Red was not always associated with GOPpers. In 1984, David Brinkley pointed to Ronald Reagan's "sea of blue" in reference to the 49-state landslide in which Walter Mondale drowned. The clear divide that we are currently entrenched in began in 2000. The Mediacracy universally designated Republican Red and Democrat Blue. (I do believe these colors are available at Home Depot for your interior decorating needs.)
The historic 2000 election permanently assigned these colors to the respective parties. While I'm not one for conspiracy, there are some things to consider when looking at color designations.
The obvious, for Conservatives and Republicans alike, is that red has long been associated with Communism. Whether it is the Reds of Revolutionary Russia, Red China, or all the little Red Star satellites throughout the world, red, historically, painted the world in Communism. Where do Communists find their homes on the great political divide? The Left. What party represents The Left in America? The Democratic Party.
The paragraph above is pretty self-explanatory. There are more, not so subtle, differences between just the colors red and blue. Sociologists will tell you that, traditionally, red carries a negative connotation. Red is associated with debt. Red finds itself in bed with both lust and passion. Anger and ferocity seethe in Red. Embarrassed faces of blushing boys turn Red. Pilate tried to wash his hands of Red, as did Lady Macbeth. Finally, Red finds a home in Hell with its fierce fires, and a horned, hoofed host which is Red head to toe.
True Blue; right off the bat Blue is unimpeachable. Blue skies fill the air with freedom. Blue is calm and cool. Blue water flows through valleys and into the seas. Blue engulfs the earth. Blue is the color of Mary. Blue can't get much better representation than that.
There are more important factors. This brief breakdown shows that even the most innocuous of things, when left to the Mediacracy, can carry significance.
Red may be the color poured upon us, no matter. For our True Colors are Freedom, Faith, Honor, Liberty, and Charity.
-Heroes don't die, they live within us.
