Green is the New Red

About a week ago I posted a rather weak article about how the GOPpers became synonymous with the color Red. The name of this website was a dead give away. Just when I thought I could put my pallet down, Tom Friedman opened his pompous mouth again.
In a recent appearance on Imus in the Morning, Friedman talked about, among other things the theme of his new book; Green. He went one to say that Green would be the color of this and future generations. He equated the eco-challenge of the 21st Century to the challenge of communism which dominated the last half of the 20th Century.
Tom of the Times put forth the argument that Red mobilized America out of fear to do some great things. That 'ol Red Scare built the Interstate Highway System, the Nuclear Age, a space program which put a man on the moon inside of a decade, the world's strongest military, a booming economy, and defended democracy.
So, basically the Green Movement's objective is to reverse all of the aforementioned accomplishments? This makes sense to The Left. The Interstate Highway System paved over forests so we could transport missiles throughout the land. Take that Woody Guthrie. The Nuclear Age never got beyond the atom. The Greenies will never let it grow. The space program shouldn't have too much of an impact on the ecosystem. Then again all of that pollution in space can't be good. Green was once a color closely associated with our G. I. Joes, as well as our dollar. Both our national defense and capitalist system have found themselves under an oppressive Green Thumb for decades.
This all leads us to Green versus the Red, White, and Blue. Old Glory has always been the symbol for freedom and democracy. Where Red was indeed the color of a global communist movement which lasted over 60 years, Green is the new collective color. One Worlders have a new color in which to paint the globe. It is hard to argue against a clean environment. That is if everyone played by the same rules. The elites will pay for these ridiculous carbon footprints, so they can continue having a grand old time in mansions, limos, and jets. Big Foot leaves a more tangible footprint than these self-righteous phonies. Moving beyond individual frauds, we look to nations. We have self-regulated ourselves from the top of the hill, to the middle of the heap. This is all a result of Green Policies. Communist nations like China, Cuba, and Venezuela are allowed to drill for oil anywhere, even off our own coast!
Yes, Green is the new Red. The Green Globalists changed colors and tactics. The goals are still the same.

The Greens envision a (smaller) humanity in 'peace and harmony with nature,' living healthy and happy without any industrial output.
It's as utopian as anything out of communism. That's because it's an outgrowth of communism.

Of course there is a positive component to what they want ( like all beliefs systems), as you put it "The Greens envision a (smaller) humanity in 'peace and harmony with nature,' living healthy and happy without any industrial output." however most of them are not at all optimistic about acheiving this and certainly don't think that this is the inevitable outcome of historical forces inherent in the means of production.

They still think it would work, if only the sheeple would wake up and stop being good little hypnotized consumers...

While using primary and secondary colors to define major political themes is better suited for pre-schoolers, the premise is still on target. The point is that Greens and Reds are globalists. Each group wants to bring an end to nations, especially Western free markets. As far as communist utopianism, I don't think there are any nukes, Red Armies, or puppet governments in Utopia.

All great lies are built upon a truth. Rare is it that we ever examine whether any "great" truth is built upon a lie.
Green -- the color of envy. How ironic, considering that a great case can be made that postmodern liberalism is rooted in envy -- and is even a vain struggle against it. Liberalism's sense of injustice indeed is rooted in jealousy at others' successes; and its heart is indeed an effort to suppress what might generate envy in others (Please don't envy me -- or my trust fund). Food for thought.

Between the green and red movements. While communism was built on utopianism the Green movement is more cynical pessimistic. One relies on the idea of the infinite perfectability of man the other is decidely more cynical.
