To Serve Man

To further illustrate that we occupy a political Twilight Zone, I want to a look at the classic episode of said show, To Serve Man. Strange aliens arrive on earth at a period of tension between world powers. They address the United Nations and assure them that their motives are benevolent.
The strangers promise, and deliver, peace, unlimited natural resources, and an end to hunger and poverty. Armed only with a book, the head alien, and his kin win over a cynical population. Except for one code breaker, who has been assigned to translate the alien book.
After nearly a year, he manages to get the title: To Serve Man. He feels foolish for his doubts. He boards an alien ship to explore their world. In fact, earthlings have been traveling there by the shipload for some time.
As he boards the ship, his secretary desperately calls out to him. She let's him know that she's completed the translation. To Serve Man is a cookbook.
Today, in the real world, we find ourselves in a similar position. We find on the political landscape, an individual who looks as alien as any presidential candidate ever has. He, too, is armed with a book. His bogus bible, The Audacity of Hope, is fitting for this Secular Messiah.
How can one argue with hope? The title is as grand as To Serve Man. Once the pages are peeled back, a recipe for disaster can be found. The Left continues to promise everything. Even when it delivers, there is a sour taste left in our mouths, and the bill is too high.
If The Left plants the seed of secularism it will grow like weeds throughout our infrastructure. All that has stood strong will soon buckle under its own weight. The Left has found its perfect ambassador. Senator O will serve up ice cream, candy, and cheese fries, while promising that we will lose weight.
The Left, and its smooth chef, will serve man on a silver platter, along with a side of sliced spirit and half-baked ideas.
