By Norman Rogers

I'm going to get off on what amounts to a rant, good sirs, and I apologize if it gets rough and coarse.

Much of my time lately has been spent on dealing with a neighborhood issue with children who are vandalizing property. I live in a nice area, and it chagrins me to say, that I'm out a pretty penny for a new paint job on my vehicle and I have had some unflattering things written on my garage door for complaining to the police and to the homeowner's association.

By Norman Rogers

I had a thoroughly enjoyable day here in Augusta. Came into town Thursday, which is a bit late for the festivities, but what are you going to do? Masters Week is a ritual I wish I could say came every year. I get down here every two or three years. This missive--E-mailed back home, posted via my son, and I will turn in for the night. If you walk the course during Saturday and Sunday, you are bone tired and worn out, even if you have good shoes. The pleasant company more than makes up for it--everyone has manners, everyone is gracious. Everyone is here for the golf, and the golf was spectacular. Got somewhat close to Tiger on the 8th today. He DOES curse a lot. I already knew that, but wow! Like a sailor, sir. And he wasn't reacting to anyone in the gallery or anything like that. He just had his head down and he was muttering.

When I read this today:

Of course, it could just be that the Democrats are clueless about the military. Someone should ask the Democrats if they think we're still at war with the confederacy, the Germans, and the Japanese given all the standing American armies in the South, Germany, and Japan.

The Confederacy? Sir, have we been militarily occupying the formerly Confederate States for better than 150 years?

By Norman Rogers

This article is a little old, but I view it as a little bon mot to the naysayers:

What exactly is wrong with an optimistic president who has confidence in the long-run future of the American economy?

President Bush took this stance in a recent interview with me and at the Economic Club of New York. He told me, “Like any free market, there’s also downturns, and we’re in one. But I am confident in the long-term strength of our economy.”
