By Obis_Sister

Maybe I need a flowchart or something.

First, Obama says he is NOT a Muslim, even though he was raised a Muslim and attended an Islamic school. And let's not forget that Muslims who leave Islam face a death sentence. Sooo... either he was never a Muslim to start with, or he's really crafty in that he's negotiated some kind of protection from the Religion of Peace during his campaign in exchange for unnamed favors later. Hmmmm....

Posted at 7:30pm on Jun. 17, 2008 AP: The New Playground Bully

By Obis_Sister

Terry Heaton's take on the latest AP kerfluffle is a must read.

The Associated Press entered highly dangerous territory last week when it sent take down notices to a publication (a.k.a. blog) known as The Drudge Retort over what it considered copyright violations. In what is widely regarded as typical fair use for blogs, the Drudge Retort copied a couple of sentences from AP reports and provided a link back to the original. The AP argued that it was not fair use, which prompted many people, including Jeff Jarvis, to cry “foul.”

By Obis_Sister

Back when I was a kid, there was a character named Glum (appropriately) on the cartoon "Gulliver's Travels" who always lamented, "We're doomed" during the weekly crisis. Lately I've felt just like him - unable to pull myself out of this black funk. Maybe because hubs is out of town, finances, the aging dog, the aging me, the heat, this joke of an election, who knows. Maybe all of the above.

By Obis_Sister

And no, I'm not talking about how I feel walking around with radiation in my GI tract after my nuclear gastro test this morning.

I'm talking about Congress' latest adventure in law-making. Ed Morrissey reminds them that

The balance of power in American government counts on an open process on legislation between Congress and the executive branch. That requires Congress to provide the President with a complete copy of bills to determine whether to sign or veto them. Any hidden provisions not submitted to the executive should render the entire legislation invalid.

Mulligan's Bar and Grill in Marietta, GA, is selling Obama '08 T-shirts. But instead of the picture of THE Messiah, it's a picture of Curious George.

Back, oh about a month ago, Breath of the Beast's Yaacov ben Moshe wrote an outstanding (as usual, everything he writes is outstanding!) piece on Lies Our Media Tells Us. Be sure to note his examples.

A case could be made that in the age of television, and especially since 1967, there has not been a news event of major transformative effect that has not been presented to the public without serious distortions. Some have been outright lies. The seriousness of the effects of these distortions cannot be understated.

Last night, at my dad's birthday celebration, we joked and teased the grandchildren about being conservative or liberal. Seems the only lefty-leaning one is College Girl. I guess that's to be expected, since she is moving into her senior year of indoctrination. She'll get over it once she's graduated and working and sees the giant bite taxes takes out of that first check.

My dad basically said - They both should quit, for the good of the country.

Posted at 6:45pm on Apr. 20, 2008 A Different Mr. Carter Gets Some Respect

By Obis_Sister

But it wasn't from any American media outlet. You knew that.

Professor Bob Carter of James Cook University, Queensland, Australia, was interviewed on "Nzone Tonight," a program on New Zealand television. (h/t Newsbusters - with embedded video) The show's host, Allen Lee, treated his guest with respect and didn't try to refute his position with name-calling or infantile posturing. Refreshing, huh? Professor Carter is one of a group of "climate realists," who occupy the "middle road" of science relating to the Earth's climate. They stress "balance" in their studies. Watch the video - very refreshing indeed. After noting the disturbing treatment of Dr. Fred Singer at the hands of ABC's "World News", Noel Sheppard in the Newsbusters article says

While Jimmah stumbles around the Middle East trying to find someone that will meet with him, the calls for a formal censure are crying out. Censure, while embarrassing like dandruff or a bad comb-over, won't happen with the current crop of weasels.
