By olderthangandalf
The muckrakers over at Democratic organ TPM Cafe are trumpeting that Mitt Romney gave money to three Democratic candidates in 1992. (Aside to Redstate's Beltway overlords - we could use a Republican version of TPM Cafe. For the cost of a couple of reporters, they do a pretty good job of digging stuff up to help their side that otherwise would go unreported.)
It's a total of three contributions. He gave $250 to then Congressman Richard Swett of New Hampshire and $250 to then-Congressman John LaFalce of New York. Romney also gave $1,000, which was then the most you could legally give, to Doug Anderson, who was on his way to getting stomped in a race for the Senate from Utah.

By olderthangandalf
In a press conference Monday, Senator Allard announced he's going to stop at two terms.
Rep. McInnis has the inside track for the Republican nomination, but it's a long way to 2008.
There also will be a lot of maneuvering on the Democratic side, including Rep. Udall and Mayor Hickenlooper of Denver.
It's the first, but won't be the last, confirmed open seat for 2008.
