By PetraeusForPresident

The source of most of Mitt Romney’s troubles in consolidating his position in the 2008 GOP Primaries gets down to one reason, one part of his life which causes many voters to question him.

Massachusetts. The “M”-word whose ultra liberalism has been the demise of at least three Presidential candidates since 1988.

The state from which he ran and served as Governor from 2002 through 2006, and where he ran for the U.S. Senate in 1994 against Ted Kennedy has played a more prominent role in Romney’s bid for the White House than perhaps any other single factor. By virtue of the positions Romney took while running for office, and the public statements he made while in office, the twisted politics of a state so far out of touch with Mainstream America have caused Romney to have to clarify, explain, and even obfuscate many of his long held views on several issues important to the Conservative base of the GOP.

Posted at 2:12pm on Jan. 28, 2008 John McCain: Commander-In-Chief

By PetraeusForPresident

With Fred Thompson’s departure from the 2008 GOP Presidential Primaries, many of us have been forced to either choose a different candidate or sit out the process entirely. As the future of our party and our nation is at stake, I feel it would be irresponsible to sit this election and nominating process out. We must choose the best candidate of the ones remaining to lead our party, and the United States of America to victory over the Democrats in November, and then to victory over the forces of Islamic extremism and the terrorists that draw inspiration from it.

A President of the United States has a lot of titles and responsibilities. Of these, I believe one is the most important – far above all others. From it flows all of our most important rights and freedoms. Without it, we would cease to be a sovereign nation of free people able to enjoy the fruits of our economy or the liberties that so many in this world would be willing to die for their children to have. From George Washington to Abraham Lincoln, one title, one crucial role of being President was what made these Presidents so great and our nation so strong.

Commander In Chief.

Now, more than other times in recent memory, this singular role is the one most important to our national security and the endurance of our way of life. This country cannot afford to take any chances on who we make our next Commander In Chief. It must be someone who is prepared to lead, who has the credibility to speak on national security issues, and who understands how to effectively deal with the nature of the threats to the United States.

That man is Senator John McCain.

Posted at 12:14am on Jan. 18, 2008 The True Reagan Legacy

By PetraeusForPresident

The year was 1988. The GOP was searching for the right man to replace our beloved President Ronald Reagan. I felt mixed emotions about this, a combination of sadness and anxiety about the greatest President of the 20th Century stepping down after two glorious terms in office, and a hopefulness that the Conservative ideas, policies, and governing philosophy he stood for would be carried on by his successor for the following four (hopefully eight) years.
