Yesterday, a liberal policy group produced a letter to Congress to repeal the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy. Regardless of your personal position on the matter of DADT, here is a group of leftists trying to push their ideals onto an institution which has no similarity with the civilian world.

The Army-wide awards program is dedicated to recognizing the best technology solutions for the Soldier. Nominations for the program were submitted from across the Army laboratory community. Nine of the 10 recipients are elements of the U.S. Army Research Development and Engineering Command.

In keeping with this year’s narrative, we discover on Sunday that 30% of all Americans have a race bias.
We can assume through past electoral performance that 40% of the Republican voters and 40% of the Democrat voters are going to vote a straight party ticket, leaving the decision of who is elected to the remaining 20%. (Note: someone else earlier this week said this too, but I cannot find the post. H/T to you Sir Anonymous) And here we have the issue, if 30% of this 20% (6 points) are already predisposed to vote against Obama simply because of his skin color, can he overcome that? I do not believe so.
At the same time, there is an overwhelming public openness to the idea of electing an African American to the presidency. In a Post-ABC News poll last month, nearly nine in 10 whites said they would be comfortable with a black president.

The Real ID Act of 2005 has been shot down in Arizona.
On Tuesday, Gov. Janet Napolitano signed a measure, House Bill 2677, barring Arizona's compliance with the Real ID program. In so doing, she called it an unfunded federal mandate that would stick states such as Arizona with a multibillion-dollar bill for the cost to develop and implement the series of new fraud-proof identification cards. It’s not everyday that a true cowboy is still exist and the loss of Arizona State Senator Jake Flake CD-5 is something to be mourned. ``Jake was one of the last of the famed cowboy legislators,'' House Speaker Jim Weiers, R-Phoenix, said in a statement. ``His country drawl, ranch-spun stories and devotion to a rural life so few of us in the Legislature know always made a conversation with Jake a learning experience. We will miss him and Arizona will miss his experience.''
