What would happen if "____" were elected in November?

When I think about the elections in November, I really wonder what the next four years will look like. Some of you have great insight into the plans and policies of the candidates on both sides, and a lot of us might benefit from at least some forward-thinking. I have a feeling a LOT of people (in the general public) are planning their votes based on immediate impressions - who they "like" best, or who is the most stage-savvy, or something else that has nothing to do with whether they will be a good leader for us as a country.
So, I would appreciate some honest, thoughtful answers to this. Maybe just put the candidate's name in the subject of your comments, and the country you would expect in the body. GO!
we'd be electing a modern day Theodore Roosevelt... a socially conservative, strong on defense, tough on spending, environmentally aware Republican.
Coming from the right McCain would be to energy policy what Nixon was to relations with China. Bringing Republican business men along the way, McCain would have the capability to enact sound, efficient, less costly environmental solutions that grow the economy, end our dependence on foreign oil, and yes, address the climate change issue. I don't buy all of it either, but it is like the Senator says, even in we are wrong and get cleaner air and cleaner water, what is the problem with that?
Being the leader of the Republican Party and an outspoken proponent of immigration reform , McCain would be able to negotiate a compromise on immigration that first secures our borders, and second addresses the thousands of illegal aliens currently living within the United States. Any compromise will leave both sides feeling like they both won in some areas and lost in others, but it will pass Congress with approx. 2/3 of the vote.
Using the Bully Pulpit and the veto pen John McCain will restore fiscal responsibility and be able to hold certain politicians accountable that have paid lip service to fiscal conservatism. He will end all earmarks, reinstate pay-go policies, advocate for free market solutions to reform entitlement programs, dramatically reduce subsidies to farmers and wealthy corporations, and work toward a constitutional amendment to give the President the power of the line item veto.
Being a strong opponent of tax increases, John McCain will make the Bush tax cuts permanent and work toward abolishing the marriage penalty, the death tax, and the capital gains tax, while at the same time insisting that spending must be cut at parallel levels. He will also advocate and make more progress than any other President in history towards a flatter tax system with less individual and corporate loop holes.
President McCain will restore our status as a respected nation. He will increase defense spending, reinstate "peace through strength" diplomatic tactics that were used under the Reagan and George H.W. Bush administration, implement a plan for "victory in Iraq" with no exceptions or excuses, and get tougher on Iran and North Korea by demanding an end to nuclear proliferation in both countries while enacting and then enforcing tough consequences that include serious economic sanctions and/or military force.

Nice job.
I thought you were a Huckabee fan. Did I miss something?

McCain used to be my first choice, when he faded I went to Huck, but in a way I am coming home.
They are tied for first now as far as I am concerned, but admittedly I was more for Huck when I thought it wasn't possible McCain would win. Now that it is more of a reality, I find my heart hoping he wins.

That's the main reason for a fiscal conservative like myself to vote for McCain. Tax cuts are easy. Cut the spending is the hard job. And McCain has, by far, the most proven record on it.
