Although I have personal problems with how the IAEA is comprised and structured and to avoid a lengthy, useless rant, the latest report from that august organisation will, hopefully, be realized for the utter contempt with which the current Iran regime views the world.
On the day of Javier Solana's delivery of "new" terms for the Iranian regime to review for the commencement of "new" talks, they begin the new cascade of enrichment heading towards weapons grade metal.

Will the world wake up?
I doubt it, certainly not Europe. But I sure hope that GatewayPundit's coverage is making some impact outside of the blogosphere. Those people need some very active help, a la the Northern Alliance. I would hope there is more activity than State Dept. "Task Forces" being applied to study the situation.
It is my hope we can make enough heads turn toward this issue and assist the people of Iran against their own despotic regime.

Posted at 7:25pm on May 21, 2006 2 Saudi Men were arrested on a loaded School bus Friday.
By Porter
Conflicting stories by the participants got them some cooler time by the local sherrif. They are being held on misdemeanor trespass charges, but the local judiciary isn't going to give them up just yet. A "friend" tried to bail the out Friday or Saturday but was, fortunately spurned.

I hope this wasn't a probing move,in any event, not a positive development.
Can the State Department do something a little more constructive with student visas, and the fact that 23 year old Saudi "boys" are applying?
Sheesh.

Posted at 11:02pm on May 17, 2006 Illinois' George Ryan had BIG Democratic coattails.
By Porter
But you thought he was a Republican, right?
Does any one know what a "blessed" list is?
Need to know the importance of "The Shakman Decree" in Illinois politics?
AND why it was decreed during Democratic administrations(mayoral, but are there any other kind in Chicago now-a-days)?
Let's pick up the shovels and get to it.

Posted at 7:30pm on May 16, 2006 The Markets vs. A Well Run PR Campaign
By Porter
Last Thursday and Friday, the stock market dropped nearly 300 points (off the DJIA), the press lead with stories that it was all due to "inflation fears". Funny thing though, the investments most sensetive to "inflation fears" are treasuries. They didn't move either day. I know, believe me, because I had to watch them all, and I mean, all day.
But gold made new highs, almost $720/oz.
It's still an inflation hedge, so what.
Not anymore.

The Department of Energy, yesterday, reported that unleaded gasoline stocks rose for the first time in 11 weeks. Today, the price of crude oil dropped over $2.50. The story is covered here.

By Porter
Sometimes, I sit down to sift the news and surf the web for the unusual and I am left in awe.
The most totalitarian-known state on the planet held an election yesterday. Was the fix in? Absolutely. Then the populace does something so extraordinarily exquisite, I just pinch myself to believe that I am living in these times.
Yes, somebody else has done the leg work and beaten me to the punch again but this news is just too glorious not to share and, more importantly, support.
The nascence of the "Flower" revolution is upon Belarus. It needs support and spreading of the word.
Here are the first pictures. The next big rally is tomorrow and I hope I can send blankets this time. I missed the "Orange" revolution last time.

I am so glad to be alive in these times.

Posted at 9:09pm on Mar. 3, 2006 Corruption explains a lot, but not where I thought
By Porter
I've always wondered about the accusations of "rogue" CIA analysts and their "politicised" agenda to harass the White House. Prof. Reynolds linked to this: http://instapundit.com/archives/028958.php , an ABC story regarding corruption within the higher ranks of the CIA.
Whether or not the accusations stick, the fact that something is getting investigated at all doesn't make me nervous in the least. It may be that the campaign against the White House wasn't entirely political. (I'm sure there are some holdouts from the glory years of the Carter Administration that think otherwise)
It was the money.
I mean, what greater motivator over the course of history has produced traitorious behavior? cash? or power?
What would happen, if someone was in a position to do so, if data was skewed, or an analysis fudged that protected an asset stream? Especially, if that person thought he or she might be beneficially responded to for the desired result. This is the corruption that Eisenhower was talking about at its purest form.
The CIA, as I understand it, is the funnel that acquired intelligence pours through, all it takes to gum it up, is some gunk in the neck. How narrow is that neck and does Mr. Goss have the nerve to execute the angioplasty that needs to be performed.
I fully understand why Sec. Rumsfeld refused to allow Defense Intelligence under the new DNI. I couldn't even imagine the chaos if corruption spilled onto the battlefield.
This Inspector General of the DNI needs a really big can opener and I, as a citizen, want some REAL answers if this bears out.
