Guantanamo Bay Naval Base resident Ahmed Belbacha is pleading for his life... No, he's not begging at the feet a merciless, masked American interrogator. Instead, Mr. Belbacha is requesting to remain in Camp Delta, the most restricted of detention camps at Gitmo. Mr. Belbacha, a native Algerian, was captured captured sometime in 2001 near the Afghan/Paki border, where he claims he had simply stumbled into the jihad by accident, and transferred to the dreaded Club Gitmo in March 2002.

A new initiative to remind people that mediocrity is the new standard, a local DC artist has created a Compliment Machine. The motion activated Compliment Machine provides passers-by, dogs, and the homeless with a brief pre-recorded message such as "You lead by example."
Perhaps this a response to our cold heart, corporate society in which competition and innovation are encouraged? Our perhaps this just a good natured gesture for those who feel as though all hope is gone (at least until January 20, 2009).
