Posted at 10:00am on Apr. 27, 2008 Gas at $9.35 a gallon? (corrected)
By Raymond McKinney
You probably think I was just trying to grab some attention and would use that to create fear and suspicion but this weekend gas hit $9.35 US per gallon in Scotland.
Just for those who need a quick reference, 1 gallon US = 3.785 litres, and 3.785 x $2.47 = $9.35. What really has them mad is petrol WAS $8.10 a gallon before the strike. That was the NORMAL price. BTW, thanks to those who pointed out I had originally used Imperial gallons vs US gallons.

By Raymond McKinney
We know you are smart, you tell us all the time. We know you are doing your best to help us middle class people back in the Georgia 12th. We appreciate the fact that you took the time to move from your home in Athens to live here in the district you represent. We've been told over and over how "conservative" you are even though you just endorsed the most liberal Senator in Washington to be our Commander in Chief.

By Raymond McKinney
A CHILD DIES
From 1941 thru 1945 we fought WWII in the name of freedom. We had 291 thousand US casualties and in the end our nation was united.
In the same time period Nazi Germany executed over 6 million Jews, we called it a Holocaust and the nation was disgusted.
A CHILD DIES
From 2003 thru 2007 we have fought another war in the Middle East. We’ve had 3800 US casualties and our nation is divided.

Posted at 12:10am on Oct. 30, 2007 Is S-CHIP really stupid or is it just me?
By Raymond McKinney
I like numbers. Numbers are non-partisan. Sure they can be manipulated as statistics but simple math is direct and to the point so I thought I would run some numbers on S-CHIP.
First a google search to find how many "poor" children were there and though the number varies, 13.5 million seemed about average. Next I divided S-CHIP, all $35,000,000,000 of it by the 13,500,000 and came up with about $2,600 per kid per year. Not bad so far.

Posted at 10:33am on Oct. 26, 2007 Fish or cut bait?
By Raymond McKinney
We've all heard the phrase "Fish or cut bait". I never really gave it much thought, it's pretty much self explanatory. We have tons of little witisms like this, "Put up or shut up", "Put your money where your mouth is" are just a few examples that come to mind.
The point is quite simple. Either do something about a problem or don't, but for Pete's sake quit whining about it.
This is similar to the state of mind I arrived at this April. I was so frustrated with the state of politics in Washington, so furious at the mishandling of our national issues that I was about to burst.
