Policing Our Own

Anyone well-versed in the recent S-CHIP shenanigans knows good and well that the Democrats were hypocrites when they accused Dennis Hastert of overseeing a “Culture of Corruption™” as Speaker of The House of Representatives. That doesn’t, however, preclude the statement from having borne a certain element of truth. Among the most odious, inexcusable and unfettered examples of Republican Party corruption has to be the legislative career of Alaska Congressman, Don Young. In the spirit of cleaning up our own party’s messes, I hereby endorse his primary challenger, Gabrielle LeDoux.

In order to get the “Culture of Corruption™” brand removed from the elephant’s hide, the GOP needs to step up and police its own. That begins by fielding primary challengers against our own worst and most disingenuous. In The Great State of Texas, Ron Paul’s Trutherism has finally drawn condign reaction. Chris Pedan, Mayor Pro Tem of Friendswood, Texas, has stepped up to challenge Ron Paul for his seat in The GOP Primary.

In Alaska, the GOP has finally screwed up its courage to the sticking point and done what is right and noble to combat its well-earned reputation for institutional corruption. GOP Governor Palin began the overdue house-cleaning by axing Senator Ted Stevens’ Bridge to Nowhere Pork-a-Thon. She further demanded that the Senator Stevens explain to the people why the federal government is investigating him; as if there was a plausible explanation that wouldn’t come-a cropper with the Good Senator’s 5th Amendment rights.

This institutional revivification continues with the efforts of Kodiak, Alaska State Representative Gabrielle LeDoux to unseat Congressman Young. As was the case with Chris Pedan, my only regret regarding her efforts to unseat a sitting GOP Congressman involves the fact that the location of my legal residence precludes me from voting for her. Her courage and willingness to go up against a corrupt pork baron, who has held sway over Alaska’s Congressional seat for 34 years, deserves commendation.

LeDoux has authored a variety of legislation to address the unique issues and problems that Alaska faces. Her experience on the frozen ground, so to speak, offers her experience and cognizance of the issues and challenges that Alaska faces, that are different from any other state in the union. She stands well versed in what the people of her state would need from her in Washington.

Alaska’s State Legislature has also functioned efficiently and gotten its work done this year in a manner that Speakers Hastert and Pelosi have both utterly failed to emulate. Despite the fact she has never worked in DC, her efficiency and attention to job task would improve rather than decrement the function of any committee she was assigned to.

In conclusion, Gabrielle LeDoux has the talent and the decency to vastly improve the quality of The Republican Party’s service to the American people if she replaced Don Young in The House of Representatives. The GOP has a choice beyond some of the criminals we currently send to Washington in the name of maintaining our presence in government. We have a moral obligation to police our own. Let’s begin the process by defeating Don Young in the Alaska GOP Primary for the House of Representatives.

Corruption in government is just another form of being a traitor. We must not tolerate traitors in our ranks.

“The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men."

If Miss LeDoux is serious about this operation, she needs to get a website up and running and start raising money quickly.
