Jeremiah Wright was correct. Barack Obama is a politician. He does what politicians do. He does and says whatever it takes to get elected.

Freshman Senator Obama revealed his strategy to win the presidential election during the Democratic Primary. Pitted against the inevitable nominee, Hillary, he chose to adopt her positions on issues that really matter to those on the left. He made his positions on health care, taxes, and Iraq as close to Hillary's as possible. This strategy allowed the primary race to be about personality rather than issues.

In a personality race with Hillary, not surprisingly, Obama won.

Now we move to the general election and find Obama attempting a similar strategy. How else can Obama's recent monumental shifts on major issues be explained?.

Posted at 11:17am on Jan. 29, 2008 Dave Barry's Update on the Florida Primaries

By Right Again

Dave Barry wants to make certain we understand the importance of the Florida primaries. Being a proud Florida resident, he is personally invested in keeping us well informed about them.

In his article this morning he provided a valuable update on the current state of the Republicans.

On the Republican side it's now a dead heat between Mitt Romney and John McCain, who are both running on the platform that the other one is a lying sack of scum. Meanwhile Rudy Giuliani's shrewd strategy of not entering the race until it was way too late continues to pay dividends in the form of several people who have told pollsters that, no matter what, they still plan to vote for Rudy in the Florida primary, even though they personally reside in New Jersey.

In an earlier article, Mr. Barry he highlighted the delegate leader.

Mitt "Mitt" Romney holds a slight edge in delegates, plus a heifer he got for winning Wyoming.

The Heifer Caucus. Now that would be a great name for a rock band.

Posted at 2:18pm on Jan. 26, 2008 Can't John McCain do better that this for an attack ad?

By Right Again

What's up with John McCain's newest ad? Did he think the John Kerry version of this ad was run long enough ago that we wouldn't remember it? Did he think pasting Mitt Romney's head on John Kerry's pictures wouldn't be obvious? Is he completely out of money and now relegated to cannibalizing Bush's anti-Kerry ads from 2006?

Posted at 10:01am on Jan. 20, 2008 Who will control the ABMs?

By Right Again

With his win in South Carolina, John McCain has unquestionably become this week’s frontrunner. This is an especially important week because we are heading to Florida and its 57 delegates. Following that is Super Tuesday. Frontrunner status has traditionally been a positive. With his frontrunner status, McCain is expected to win Florida and ride two weeks of winning into Super Tuesday.

But this race is like no other before. In this race frontrunner status seems to add a target to the candidate rather than momentum. So for the next two weeks John McCain will be seen as a target by voters who support another candidate. So…

Who will control the ABMs (the Anybody But McCain votes).

Posted at 9:08am on Dec. 27, 2007 Let's pick Mitt Romney apart

By Right Again

Mitt Romney has been accused of being many things during this campaign: a snake-oil-salesman, too perfect, too slick, a flip-flopper, and a Mormon. Let’s see how well these terms apply when compared with reality.

A snake-oil-salesman

One thing we know about snake-oil-salesmen is that they are phonies. You cannot expect real results from what they are selling. They are fly-by-night operators who convince you that their products really work. They take your money and run before you discover their fraud.

Posted at 8:04pm on Jul. 16, 2006 For Which Republican Would You Not Vote?

By Right Again

We have had plenty of straw polls here at RedState on the 2008 Presidential election. Here's a unique twist: Are there any front-running Republican candidates for whom you would not vote? Are there any that would make you stay home, or vote for any of the possible Democrat candidates? Is there anyone you really hate?

Posted at 5:25pm on Jul. 8, 2006 Who Are America's Asian Friends

By Right Again

Todd Crowell, in an article on RCP comments on Prime Minister Koizumi's recent visit to the United States. He opines that our government should have pressured the Prime Minister into discontinuing his visits to the Yasukuni Shrine. This quote was particularly troubling to me:

Washington could easily end the Yasukuni visits by making an issue of them instead of ignoring them. In doing so it would go a long way toward defusing a growing animosity among America's Asian friends that cannot be in the country's best interest.

Posted at 10:22pm on Jul. 6, 2006 Presidential Elections and the Lessons Learned

By Right Again

Prior presidential elections have taught us many lessons. How well have we learned them and how well can we apply that knowledge to maintain control of the White House for eight more years?

The following are some of the lessons learned during my lifetime. Each lesson is followed by the presidential race in which we learned it. Some lessons have had to be repeated. For those, multiple races have been listed.

Posted at 7:40pm on Mar. 24, 2006 Should One Die For Switching Religions?

By Right Again

Abdul Rahman has been sentenced to die by a court in Afghanistan.  His crime?  He abandoned Islam for Christianity.

Can we allow this to happen in a newly-created democracy which our country has spent so much money and blood in assisting?
