Posted at 3:55pm on Feb. 18, 2008 Turn Out is Important for more than the Presidential Race
By robertm75
This election season is big. It's huge actually. Those of us--and by that I mean all of us--who care about the future of the United States are looking forward to a chance at stopping the advance of liberalism. However, I know that there are some out there who are discouraged about this year because of the nominee that the GOP has been saddled with, and I whole heartedly sympathize with you. But there is something that can be done to thwart McCain and, God forbid, any one of the two Democrats that are out there: Vote for a Conservative Congress.

Posted at 4:11am on Feb. 5, 2008 Bill Kristol is No Rush Limbaugh
By robertm75
The comparisons of William Kristol and Rush Limbaugh have risen to the top in the overall battle between Conservatives and John McCain. It really began with David Brooks and then moved to the other resident "Conservative" on the New York Times editorial page. As for this devoted listener to the Rush Limbaugh Program, let me just tell all of you who are interested, Rush is hands down the more Conservative of the two.

Posted at 4:09pm on Nov. 5, 2007 McCain Thinks I am Torturing People.....
By robertm75
A couple of you have taken offense to my saying that Viet-Vets need to stop projecting thier failures in Vietnam on my generation while they fight in the GWOT. Some have tried to put words in my mouth by saying that I really mean the John Kerry-Vets. Well, I want to be perfectly clear: I mean any Viet-Vet out there, whether it's John McCain or John F. Kerry, maligning me and my mates while they put their a** on the line in defending this great land. John Kerry is easy to refute for what he is, but John McCain is more difficult because he wraps himself up in the flag and the fact that he was a POW. But it is no secret that he has, in so many words, said that those involved in the extraction of information from detainees in GETMO or anywhere else are acting in a torturous manner. He points to waterbording as his "Exhibit A" and his vile comments are just as damaging to our war effort as the wacko-Left's statements. There is NO torture going on.

Posted at 10:58pm on May 15, 2007 Who Will You Support When........
By robertm75
After watching tonight's debate in South Carolina, it is time to ask the question that needs to be asked. What will all of you out there who are supporting second and third tier candidates do when they lose? Are you going to decide to support the candidate that the Party has chosen or are you going to sulk in your basement and lement how the Country has lost and we are all doomed?
For what it is worth, I will come out and say that early on I was a Mitt Romney supporter. (For those of you doing searches on my posts and blogs, I just saved you a ton of work.) Although I still like the guy, I have had to slow down a bit and examine the candidates in the field. I have decided that it is best to wait and see who is going to be the nominee. However, we are not going to get the answer to this question with all of these space-wasters on the stage. Brownback, Tancredo, Paul, Gilmore, Tommy Thompson all need to bow out now so that we can decide between the ones we all know are going to get it.

Posted at 3:14pm on Jan. 30, 2007 Iraq's Many Problems, None Being Addressed....
By robertm75
(Writer's Note: This is to be a long piece about what should be done in Iraq. Some will upset the Left, other points may upset Conservatives.)
The situation in Iraq has brought forth a multitude of strategies and ideas from people all over the ideological spectrum. The Left, of course, wants us out of Iraq regardless of the consequences. The Right wants us to win, but there does not seem to be a cogent plan to get behind that would accomplish this. Sure, there is the "surge" as well as going after Iran in some form or fashion, but nothing real convincing when it comes to coaxing the American People to get behind this thing again. But throughout all of the strategic ideas, there has been no mention of the one plan that needs to be implemented. This current battle, and GWOT in general, is a clandestine war much in the same way that the Cold War was. Iraq is just a microcosm of what I am talking about and no amount of military adjustment is going to solve the greater problem of intelligence.

Posted at 1:17pm on Jan. 30, 2007 New Website to keep Tabs on Congress......
By robertm75
Greetings all,
I was listening to CSPAN's Washington Journal and they had the founder of the Sunlight Foundation (www.sunlightfoundation.com) on discussing her website. It is very good. You can search all members of Congress and get a list of donors to campaigns. I find it more user-friendly than opensecrets.org. Give it a look-see and support them as much as possible.

Posted at 4:23pm on Jan. 24, 2007 Conservatives, It's Time for a "Come-to-Jesus" Moment
By robertm75
There is a creeping sentiment I see setting into many Conservatives all across the web and in Washington. I hear and read about Republicans viewing Iraq as the major reason for our loss in November, and as such, the reason why many have/will do all they can to leave Bush isolated on the issue. For a host of reasons, I do not blame those who wish to do this. It is not so much that they must convince themselves that Iraq was not the lone reason for their defeat, but they would have to convince the American Voter of this, and the American Voter is not going to be convinced that they did not vote for Democrats because of Iraq. (Sounds a little convoluted I know, but when you look at exit polls, the number one reason for Republican losses was due to voters linking them to big government.) So we must ask ourselves, "Are we going to forever abandon the idea of limited government for the sake of winning?"

Posted at 11:11pm on Jan. 17, 2007 Why John McCain Should Not be the Republican Nominee in 08
By robertm75
We have seen the reasons from numerous people over the past few years as to why John McCain should not be the Republican nominee in 08, and we have to a lesser extent ventured into what a McCain nomination would mean for Conservatives. But it is time to take a deep, clear and long look at the actual outcomes of his nomination.
There are a few directions in which Conservatives can go if McCain is the name at the top of the ticket. We can either hold our noses and vote for him in the hopes that we keep the other side out of power in the executive or we can stay home and almost garantee a Democrat (Hillary or Obama?) in the White House for the next four years. Either choice is bad for America and bad for Conseravtives.

Posted at 9:40pm on Sep. 6, 2006 The Dems Say 'Bring 'Em On'
By robertm75
So I was over at "The Hill" newspaper and I saw this: http://www.hillnews.com/thehill/export/TheHill/News/Frontpage/090606/sec...
Apparently the Democrats want to have the debate over national security, and, furthermore, they believe they can win it. In this piece on "The Hill," the Dems go through all of thier usual complaints against the Bush Administration and the prosecution of the War on Terror, such as, invading Iraq. But as you read through this entire piece, you will notice that there is not one mention of what they would do. There is no "Iraq was a mistake, and this is how we would go about fighting terror," or "Though we think Iraq was a blunder, we are there and here is how to fix it." No, none of that; just a bunch of "Republicans suck!" So what is it that the Democrats would do? They may not come right out and unfold a plan that is cogent, but they have been telling us what they would do.

With the outcomes of yesterday's primaries now firmly settled, we have to ask ourselves this question: Are the leftwing nutcases really as powerful as they seem after the Lemont win? Let's take a look, shall we.

Posted at 9:53pm on Jul. 29, 2006 Why The Left Hates America
By robertm75
In a previous post on a previous diary, I made the claim that the Democrats/Leftists in America are not interested in supporting the War on Terror because deep down they hate America. They hate what it stands for, this being free-market capitalism and limited government. They hate the fact that we are viewed as the lone super power in the world. They hate the fact that the Soviet Union, and not the United States, dissolved into oblivion. This claim of Democrats/Leftists hating America cut to the bone of some liberals who post here, which is completely understandable, as they probably don't hate America--unless governed by Conservatives/Republicans. Today, my claim was re-enforced by a column in the Washington Post by the editor for the New Republic Mr. Peter Beinart.

Posted at 11:53pm on Jul. 15, 2006 My Unwaivering Support for Israel
By robertm75
Israel is finally doing what should have been done before that reprobate Yassar Arafat assumed room temperature. It took them this long to see that they cannot buy peace with the NeoNazis that are the Islamic Facists that surround them. They agreed to a partitioning of the West Bank and Gaza and recognized the Palestinian Authority as the governing body to these provinces. They withdrew settlements from Gaza. And they have been in the process of coming up with a way to share Jerusalem with the Palestinians. All that this has brought them is more terror.

Posted at 10:20pm on Jul. 5, 2006 Estates and Why It's None of Your Business
By robertm75
I have read a couple of posts about the elimination of the Estate Tax and how it is not right to allow millions of dollars to go to people who didn't earn it. I have read how these recipients of this money turn into Kennedys and the like. But Let me just say to those who are okay with taxing money that has already been taxed that it is none of your business what happens to this money when passed to heirs.

Posted at 11:00am on Jun. 24, 2006 McCain and His Manufactured Reputation.
By robertm75
Senator John McCain has been held up by many as being a man that is against pork spending and earmarking. In the past couple of months, he and Sen. Coburn have even sought to restrict this practice via legislation. He is considered the champion of less government waste and doing away with the influence of the "special interestes." But what if this reputation was not quite the case? What if the manufacturing of "John McCain--The Pork Buster" was merely a ruse done by willing accomplices in the MSM that like him?
