By SanDiego92108
Jesse Ventura vs. Al Franken vs. Norm Coleman?
Polls in a three-way race show Coleman still ahead, but Ventura taking more R votes than D?
According to Political Punch:
former Gov. Jesse "The Body" Ventura, Ind-Minn., sounds like he may run for Senate, challenging incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., whom Ventura defeated for governor in 1998, as well as Democratic nominee and former Saturday Night Live humorist Al Franken.

Posted at 2:40am on Jul. 1, 2008 Dems plan "October Surprise" concerning McCain's military record
By SanDiego92108
Get prepared: According to progressive blogs, the Democrats are preparing an "October Surprise" about John McCain's military record. They plan to unveil it before the election, but after the GOP formally nominates the Arizona senator as its standard bearer.
The Dems are already following a long-planned strategy of undermining McCain's military service, as evidenced by the comments of Gen. Wesley Clark over the weekend. Expect much more of that as part of a concerted effort to soften up McCain on his strongest political asset. And then will come the clincher, the October surprise. To quote:

Posted at 4:46am on May 8, 2008 Time for a discussion on race
By SanDiego92108
Pat Buchanan has gone a litle bats lately, but his article on race is one of the best I've read:
Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America.
Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to.
This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:

Posted at 7:52am on May 5, 2008 Hillary Clinton's nuclear option
By SanDiego92108
Hillary Clinton has a secret weapon to win a majority of superdelegates at the Democrat convention in Denver. Whether this nuclear option will be deployed depends in large part on the outcome of Tuesday's primaries in Indiana and North Carolina.
For this to happen, Clinton would have to win Indiana by at least 6-7 points, and lose North Carolina by a very small margin - or better yet, win the Tar Heel state.

By SanDiego92108
Obama's VP nominee will be....... (in ascending order):
5) Gov. Bill Richardson, D-NM. Would attract uncertain Latino voters, shore up Obama's foreign policy experience, and lock down the SW for the Dems (NM, NV, & CO, with Az. possibly remaining in the McCain fold).
4) Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-MN. Attracts the female vote that Obama's raucous fight with Hilary turned off. Secures MN and likely WI, two prime McCain targets. Prosectorial background to appeal to "law and order" independents.

A nice, touching, and relatively short clip, in which Nancy Reagan endorses John McCain for president. I can almost feel Ronald's soul...

Posted at 3:26am on Mar. 9, 2008 A Senator Huckabee would have a better shot at becoming President Huckabee
By SanDiego92108
A Senator Huckabee would have a better shot at becoming President Huckabee. First, by picking up a much-needed Senate seat for the GOP, he'd certainly ingratiate himself with the party faithful.
Second, by beating Pryor he would show he can take on a tough incumbent Dem. and WIN.
Third, in the Senate he can polish his resume with some real accomplishments at the federal level. He could gain foreign policy stature.

By SanDiego92108
I am SOOOO glad BHO won the Dems nomination, and not HRC.
BHO (is it acceptable to call him that, excluding his middle name?) is the gift that keeps on giving
Anyone seen that YouTube video of him wanting to castrate our armed forces (serously.)? The YouTube video alone can be a general election ad.
No exerience. A funky name. Muslim family ties. A desire to surrender to the Muslim terrorists. (Yes, Random Guy, 'tis true.) Could perhaps, his family ties to Muslims make him take his eyes off the GWOT?

Posted at 6:29am on Feb. 3, 2008 McCain's running mate -- which of these will it be?
By SanDiego92108
Here are my thoughts on John McCain's choice of a VPOTUS, should he win the nomination, which seems likely the case. These are in no particular order:
1) Sen. Mel Martinez of FL. The pro's are that he'd help greatly with the Hispanic vote (key in NM, NV, CO, and all-important Florida).
The con's are that Martinez would be suspect to the conservative base, that McCain already would do well with Hispanics anyway because of his support of "comprehensive" immigration reform, and that the Republican nominee should not use the 'silver buller' of his running mate on Florida, a state they should win anyhow.

Rumors are flying like magpies, that Sen. John McCain plans to offer the VPOTUS slot to his old friend, ex-Sen. Frd Thompson. Frankly, I can live with that.
What do fellow RedStaters think about a possible McCain/Thompson ticket?

"If it's Obama versus Huckabee in November, Republicans might want to prepare a bomb shelter and store plenty of food, water and reading material. That general election would more likely than not be a massive blowout for Democrats."
I agree with this experienced political analyst. Democrats are drooling at

Which GOP nominee could RedStaters NOT vote for in the general election?
I'm pretty certain all RedStaters (ficons, socons, defcons) could vote for Fred Thompson. (Disclaimer -- he's my guy, but that is irrelevant here.)
Could all RedStaters vote for McCain, if he is the GOP standard bearer? Many of us have heartburn over his positions on immigration, campaign finance, enhanced interrogation, and (somewhat) taxes -- yet he is pro-life, pro-GWOT, and anti-earmarks. Probably good enough for virtually all RedStaters to support, esp. to keep Hussein out of the WH?

Obama wins the nomination if he just says the following...
"Senator Clinton, during your husband's administration, a number of women publicly accused him of unwanted sexual advances toward them. These allegations ranged from harassment to outright sexual assault.
Yet, you never stood up for any of these women, even as their stories came one after another after another.
Do you believe Juanita Broderick when she said that your husband raped her? Is there any truth to what the other women, Kathleen Willey, Paula Jones, and others claimed?
