MORNING UPDATE:
Senate and House Republican demand reforms…Democrats keep pushing tax increases but are frustrated by the politics of “good, efficient government”. We are on the right side…stay the coarse, demand reforms!

CAFÉ standards threaten domestic auto industry…be vigilant and call your federal legislators for the good of Michigan and our domestic auto industry. Don’t be fooled.
THE REST OF THE STORY:
- The House is itching to move an income tax increase this week, and maybe as soon as Wednesday. The Speaker is pulling out all the stops to appease his caucus (rumor is that he happens to be 6 votes short of passage)- demanding revenues before revenue talks. The word is out that Republicans are looking to dig into the 2008 budget and recover the fat we failed to get out of them during the latter half of 2007 and they want to head us off before we get there.
The Democrats are desperate to show some reforms before they go for a tax increase…let’s join them and move forward.
Our message of meaningful reforms is resonating and they think their window to get the big dollars is closing with every reform we put out.
We need our people in the House and Senate to stay strong and I think a little appreciation to our Senators and Representatives for sticking to their core values would do the trick. We know what the ramifications for passing a tax increase are (recalls), but reminding our folks what standing strong means to our party name would be helpful. Our brand can be reclaimed in a short period of time and these legislators are here and have the opportunity to do that.
When we look back as a party, 2006 was a low point. If we can say that in less than a year we reclaimed our brand and began to turn the tides of one of the greatest political storms in history, that is a major accomplishment. These legislators have the opportunity to make that their legacy. We are the party of reform, less taxes and fiscal responsibility. Now is the time to make our stand.
Michigan Republicans have to act like Republicans and do the right thing. Call your legislator, let them know you appreciate their efforts and ask them to stand strong and demand fundamental reform in the way Michigan conducts its business.
There is a difference between Republicans and Democrats. We are on the right side and have to stand strong to political pressure for the liberal elite and media.
Michigan can be great again…and needs our leadership to show the way!!!
- This is a HUGE honor for Michigan, Michigan Republicans and Calhoun County Republicans, especially since the National Fatherhood Initiative took part in the selection process!
Robert Pedersen is a member of the Calhoun County Republicans and was very active in Congressman Tim Walberg’s campaign in the Calhoun County area. Robert is already organizing various organizations to provide ground “troops” for Congressman Walberg’s reelection.
An inspiring story which needs to be covered by the local/regional media as well.
Robert Pedersen, of Battle Creek, MI, wins the runner-up award in Best Life Magazine’s Hero Dad Contest.
Best Life Magazine is read by MILLIONS of people nationwide and is part of the Rodale Publishing media powerhouse.
Best Life Magazine, MSN, Rodale, and the National Fatherhood Initiative searched nationwide for applicants to later be narrowed down to just three winners in the entire nation. All prior mentioned organizations are highly respected. Robert Pedersen, of Battle Creek, MI found out on Father’s Day that he was one of the three winners nationwide based on his ability to juggle being a full-time sales rep, full-time husband and father and for community involvement including numerous volunteer activities.
Robert Pedersen was also just recently interviewed on the Radio Lia Show regarding his planned 600 plus mile bicycle trek from Lansing, MI to Washington, D.C. to promote awareness of a child’s right to equal time with both fit parents after a divorce and HB 4564. He departs on August 11th, 2007 from Lansing and will be welcomed by OVER 100,000 confirmed people in Washington, D.C.

- Lots of folks in Washington keep selling the line that the “Levin seat” is safe…NOT if he helps bury Michigan. If CAFÉ prevails, it’s a new ballgame and Carl Levin will have nothing to stand on…he will be part of the problem.
It’s not enough for them to vote NO. They are in the majority…they are in leadership…if they can’t stop it…Michigan voters should stop them.
When the Republicans ran the Senate this never happened…Senator Abraham and his allies worked with Republicans to protect our domestic auto industry and protect Michigan jobs. It CAN be done…it has been done.
