The New York Times and Lopez-Obrador (part 2)

Last week, I told PAN-istas to get over the fact that Se~or LO had written an article on The NY Times.

Check out "Panic at 43rd street" in Vanity Fair:

"The Times's current predicament—its share price has fallen by 50 percent since 2002; almost 30 percent of its shareholders protested the company's slate of directors at the annual meeting this spring—gets closer and closer to that of the Knight-Ridder papers, forced into a sale...."

What makes this article interesting is that the author, and magazine, are left wing liberals. No one can accuse them of being a part of the right wing conspiracy.

Beyond stocks and shareholders, let me say this.

I find it interesting that newspapers in the US have not picked up AMLO's NY Times article. Normally, the NYTimes (or the WSJ or Wash Post) distribute their material across the country. This is why we read Tom Friedman and David Brooks in the Dallas Morning News.

So far, I have not seen any newspaper pick up AMLO's rant. To be sure, I have not read every newspaper in the US. However, I did a google search and did not find anything beyond the NY Times.

I wonder why?

The answer is obvious. Most editors read AMLO's article and saw an irrational rant that can be summarized as follows:

"My name is Andres and Felipe stole the election"

Normally, newspapers refer these authors to Dr. Laura or Univision's Cristina.

Others sell space for these political presentations. Or, at the very least, give each side 1,000 words to make their case.

Why did the NY Times give Mexico's leftist candidate free space to make such an overt political statement?

The answer is obvious, unless you are infected with Bush Derangement Syndrome.

The NY Times is the US's # 1 left wing newspaper. It wants AMLO to win. It shares his view of the world.

The NY Times has a special place in its heart for left wing candidates. This is why I wrote last week that AMLO and the NY Times were made for each other.

Let me give you a word of advice. Rasmussen Reports published this in June:

"Eighty percent (80%) of Republicans rate their life as good or excellent. That compares to 66% of Democrats and 65% of those not affiliated with either major party."

Why are Republicans so happy, or at least happier than Democrats? The answer is that we don't read the NY Times.

I didn't know he had an opinion piece in the times, and I've been following the election.

It seems a little creepy down there; today AMLO announced that he would "lay seige" to Calderon if he didn't win the recount. Huh?!?!?

I read their content off the web so have the satisfaction that none of my money is going into Pinch's pocket. I also experience perverse pleasure every time I look at a NYT stock price chart.
