Posted at 4:01am on Jun. 8, 2008 Republicans Could Have Killed Budget
By Sean Hackbarth
The news from Robert Novak doesn't say much about Sens. Warner, Domenici, and McCain:
Sens. John Warner and Pete Domenici, two senior Republicans not seeking re-election this year, made certain that Democrats narrowly passed their budget, 48 to 45, because they exercised old-fashioned senatorial courtesy.

By Sean Hackbarth
On the heels of his economic speech in Pittsburgh Sen. John McCain is in Milwaukee continuing to talk about the economy. Before what the campaign calls a "Economic Summit Meeting" at mining equipment leader Bucyrus International former HP CEO and now RNC Victory Chair Carly Fiorina answered a few of my questions.

Posted at 4:54am on Nov. 12, 2006 Russ Feingold Won’t Run for President
By Sean Hackbarth
As soon as Tom Vilsack and John McCain prepare for Presidential runs Sen. Russ Feingold decides not to:
“I never got to that point where I’d rather be running around the country, running for president, than being a senator from Wisconsin,” Feingold said in a phone interview from Madison.
…
Feingold had been publicly weighing a presidential bid since early 2005, forming a political action committee, traveling to key states such as New Hampshire and Iowa, and cultivating a more national constituency as an early and outspoken opponent of the Iraq war, the Patriot Act and other Bush administration policies.Comments (5) / Email this page » / Read More »

If the GOP loses the U.S. Senate they can give partial blame to their stingy collegues with piles of unused campaign cash:

Posted at 3:15pm on Oct. 11, 2006 Small Aircraft Hits NYC Apartment Building
By Sean Hackbarth
A helicopter just hit the Bellaire building in New York City. It's a 50-story building built in 1988. It contains 183 apartments. Two stories are on fire.
I firmly believe this was a terrorist attack. Planes don't just fly into buildings. Since it's become more difficult to hijack airliners--mostly due to passengers who will fight back like United 93--small planes would become easier, though less powerful tools for attacks.

Posted at 8:59pm on Sep. 21, 2006 Wisconsin's Democratic Governor Used Lawyer to Make Elections Board Stick It to Rep. Mark Green
By Sean Hackbarth
We might as well toss aside the latest poll numbers. A new piece of data has entered the governor's race, and it's a doozy. Gov. Jim Doyle's campaign lawyer told Democratic members of the State Elections Board to retroactively declare some of Rep. Mark Green's PAC contribution illegal to stymie the Republican's campaign.

Posted at 4:15am on Aug. 31, 2006 Wisconsin State Elections Board Raps Mark Green over PAC Money
By Sean Hackbarth
Rep. Mark Green got rapped by a partisan vote on the state elections board and ordered to give up $468,000 in political action committee donations he transfered from his federal campaign account to that for his race for governor.
The Doyle campaign is using the board's decision to tar Green, making him look as sleazy as Gov. Doyle. State Democratic Party chairman Joe Wineke called the contested money "dirty." The fact is Green's PAC money was legal when initially raised and legal when moved into gubernatorial account. It only broke the rules when five Democratic board members along with one libertarian decided to stick it to Rep. Green.

Posted at 7:12pm on Jan. 20, 2006 Open Season on GOP in Milwaukee
By Sean Hackbarth
If you're a Democrat in Milwaukee and you slash the tires of GOP vans on Election Day don't expect harsh punishment.
Michael Pratt, 33, Sowande Omokunde, 26, Lewis G. Caldwell, 29, and Lavelle Mohammad, 36, have all pleaded no contest to misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property. Omokunde is [Rep. Gwen] Moore's son.
Prosecutors will recommend probation sentences as part of the deal, and that the four together pay $5,317 in restitution for the damaged tires.
The Democratic-controlled District Attorney's office gave up after only seven hours of jury deliberation and handed out slap-on-the-wrist plea bargains to four of the five accused. When the costs of committing crime are low you get more of it. Expect more Democratic dirty tricks this election season.

Posted at 5:04pm on Sep. 25, 2005 Protest Freaks
By Sean Hackbarth

I watched C-SPAN's coverage of CindyFest 2005. These goofs couldn't help themselves. The protest was suppose to be against the Iraq War, but Palestine had to be mentioned along with globalization, Cuba, and gay marriage. Surprisingly in the time I watched no one wanted to "Free Mumia!" He must be passe. The Cuban 5 is where it's at. Here are some lowlights:

By Sean Hackbarth
What a way to ruin the National Book Festival. Bring in a bunch of America bashers with the Stallinist ANSWER as chief organizers. It's impressive that President Bush did take seriously the concerns of the thousands of protesters coming to Washington, D.C. He said they have "good intentions, but their position is wrong."
