[OK, one last note. Remember the price of failure:]

Today, Republican members in the House blocked the efforts of the Democratic “leadership” to kill a Dennis Kucinich sponsored resolution to impeach Vice President Cheney. (Linked via Drudge). As a result this Republican manuevering, the House will proceed with a vote on his impeachment.
According to Kucinich, Cheney is guilty of “deception” with regards to the Iraq War and “belligerent actions” with regards to Iran.
Apparently Rep. John Shaddeg (R-AZ)came up with the idea of throwing Republican votes in favor of bringing the measure in order to embarrass Pelosi & Co. by 1) letting the American people actually see the unvarnished nuttiness of the House Democrat back-benchers and 2) forcing Pelosi to then have to (presumably) go on record voting against the impeachment of Vice President Cheney and deal with the ensuing wrath of the nutroots.
I say three cheers for Rep. Shaddeg. If we can do more of this type of thing- holding the Democratic leadership accountable for the lunacy of their base, we will have a good shot of regaining a majority vote from the American people in 2008.
It looked like the Partisan Media was going to spike any news of this; about the only things out there were blog entries and 'insider' sheets. But now the WaPo has decided that it's "news." This means the slavering Democrats in the AP Washington Bureau will have to crank something out. Woe is them.

Nice, now everyone will see that the LaRouche cult is on the side of the Democrats, as they are constantly going around college campuses cheering "Impeach Cheney." Unfortunately, I will have to briefly deal with the aftermath of this tomorrow at school for sure, when the Larouchies attempt to celebrate earlier, but it will be shortlived, because then America will really see that they are all just a bunch of pot smokers and that Democrats really have no base for well...anything really.
Courage becomes a living and an attractive virtue when it is regarded not only as a willingness to die manfully, but also as a determination to live decently.

So... They are gonna vote to impeach Cheney?? Am I reading that right?
They were going to impeach the Vice President, but then Rep. Hoyer successfully moved to get the resolution referred to Judiciary, apparently.
Daily Kos is counting it a win (warning: hate site) because the resolution's text got read on C-SPAN.
A loss is a win. Who bought the Democratic Party again? I guess 'twas the Jooooooooooooooos.

...from the Drudge Report, "Alcee Hastings (D-FLA) tells FOX NEWS: 'Dennis Kucinich is on a quest of his own. He sees flying saucers and he acts like one, too'..."
That poor, sad, little elf just experienced an alien probe up his backside from one of his own ethically-challenged colleagues.

The best possible thing for us is for all the nutjobs to be exposed to the light of day and everyone put on record.
Outstanding.
...Er, Nancy, how's that majority thing working out for you so far? Good times, eh?

Why is it we have to find ourselves in the minority to find leadership?

The Republicans called the Democrat's bluff here didn't they? This move was actually quite brilliant by the House Republicans because it is going to cause a serious spit in the Democrat party. The base will now be fighting the centrists/conservatives in the party. If you look at DU/KOS, it is already starting it seems (yeah, I am going to be showering after going there). A few of them DO see what this is doing and are saying that it was a move to split the party but they are getting shouted down by the very angry base.

although Boehner has been good. Shaddeg rocks, though!
The only way to beat these people is to expose them for the complete nutjobs they are using their own words and actions against them. This bunch is as nutty as they come - it really shouldn't be hard.
You may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you.
My understanding is that the motion was shuffled off to a committee, where it will essentially disappear. This isn't the first time that Mr. UFO has moved for impeachment, but none have ever been voted on by the whole house.
It is monarchical and aristocratical government only that requires ignorance for its support.

...from their base is precisely what we hoped to do in the first place; and having them send it to Judiciary to presumably die fulfills those hopes nicely.
An actual vote would have had me saying "Dayenu" about the former.

So there is at least ONE set of [Expletive deleted] in the whole of the Democratic party, too bad the rest can’t seem to muster up one ounce of integrity and courage and hold this murderous regime’ accountable for their crimes against humanity, ALL of humanity…
Surely though, the demmy’s will sit back and let the hitlers of our day destroy the Middle East and take down America as well with their dream of a North American Union by 2010…
Either wake the EFF up, or sleep forever you gutless politicians..

Pelosi (and other dems) are trying to paint this as gamemanship and wasting valuable time by the Republicans. Pot....kettle...anyone?

Near as I can tell from searching on Google News and Yahoo News, the Associated Press has not written one word about this.
It's a good thing we now have alternate media, because the public cannot trust their newspapers anymore. If it's embarrassing to Democrats, it didn't happen.
The good news is, the really goofy Kucinich-grade reporters at outlets like CBS News and The L.A. Times are so far out in space that they've gone whole-hog, cheerleading for the Democratic leadership to jump aboard.

Oh, Nancy's in power? Never mind....
I can't believe they would want to impeach Cheney. Especially with his weak heart condition. People should not hold animosity to someone who is only trying to be the best that he can be. I know I don't speak for everyone, but leave the poor man alone. He needs to be reassured that we like him, not the other way around.
doesn't care whether he is "liked" or not. I'm confident he'd rather have our respect for standing on principle.
Don't forget, there really is a "Conservative in the White House."

While the republicans successfully blocked a motion to table, a motion to refer it to the House Judiciary committee passed. If Conyers has any sense whatsoever it will never again see the light of day.
If indeed Conyers is going to make sure this proposal "will never again see the light of day" (and I agree, that's just what he's going to do), then it will have to be self-same John Conyers - you know, the man who in the run-up to Blue2006 was going to personally serve-up articles of impeachment against Bush and Darth Cheney - who will then get to explain to the various nutters in the Demo caucus why he burried Dennis the UFO-Hunter's proposal.
And I wish him well in attempting to square that circle, by the way.
Savvy?
