Obama and the Jeremiah Wright two step

Now that it's apparent that he can't ignore the abhorent statements of his 20 year Pastor, Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama is attempting to find a way to escape further damage.

Finally, he has removed Wright from the African American Religious Leadership Committee, a group that was advising the Obama campaign.

His explanation for taking so long to act makes him either a liar or an ignorant fool.

In an attempt to provide some explanation for why he didn't know about Wright's comments earlier, Barack, in a post on the Huffington Post wrote... "The statements that Rev. Wright made that are the cause of this controversy were not statements I personally heard him preach while I sat in the pews of Trinity or heard him utter in private conversation."

Who is he trying to get by with that statement? If my Pastor said:

"The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people. God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme."

during a Sunday morning sermon, it wouldn't have mattered if I was there or not. I can assure you that that statement would have sent a fire storm through our congregation and been discussed by EVERYONE as we considered whether there should be some sort of disciplinary action taken on our Pastor.

So that leads me to one of two conclusions:

A. Obama is disingenuous at best and a flat out liar at worst when he says:

When these statements first came to my attention, it was at the beginning of my presidential campaign.

How would he or Michelle have missed the hubbub a statement like that would have created?

or

B. The rhetoric that has come to light from Jeremiah Wright was common place and because it was not unusual, it didn't stir any controversy within the congregation when he said things like the above quote. If this is the case, then whether Barack was there on any particular Sunday is irrelevant because the type of speech would have occurred regularly and Barack would have been present for some and perhaps many sermons of similar content.

I kind of hope the answer is A because I can't even imagine what kind of regular hate filled diatribes would get a congregation, that claims to be Christian, to excuse the language and statements that have now become public.

What a tool. He tried to deflect all criticism by saying that Hannity is ignorant of black theology and so could not understand the context of his sermons.

Well, let's just see how this works, I guess if you don't like what David Duck says then that's just because you are ignorant of the context of white supremacy literature.

Wright is a horrible anti-American, racist, hate filled religious hypocrite.

Otis Moss has been hand picked to be New Sr. Pastor. Moss has been at the church for several years and helped grow it from 125 members to 2100. CNN ran an interview of Moss tonight and he not defended Wright but will carry on with similar messages.

there are churches like that and other organizations all across the country, poisoning the minds of Black Americans. they do nothing to heal the divisions in our nation they only make them worse.

The logic that is being used here would work if Obama were running to be President of black America because of course, he doesn't understand white Americans and their perspectives. He and his surrogates are tying themselves into pretzels attempting to twist the logic on this issue!

These are not questionable comments in any way shape or form. They are unquestionably racist.

If Senator Obama knew last year about this, why did he not get out then? Because he knew precisely what was going on in that church. And even after he knew what this whako was up too, (even though we're supposed to think 20 years of attendance and 16 degrees of separation was not enough to give even Forest Gump a hint) he put him on some black religious advisory committee in the campaign.

This is outrageous, it is more than outrageous, it is insulting to have him play this change game, with no plan for the delivery of it, only then to find out the change he’s talking about may very well indeed be the things he has embraced for the last 20 years!

But I hope someone will ask Obama if he believes any of those conspiracy theories Rev. Wright frequently asserts as fact.

If you read his book,"Audacity of Hope" you will find: "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction." I would question where his true loyalties lie. I wonder, do we really want a man with that philosophy sitting in the White House? His book brought a lot of questions to my mind. His preacher just added another to add to the list.

chose Wright's church precisely because of his afro-centric stance. He wanted to prove his black "authenticity". pathological...
