Posted at 5:13pm on Jul. 9, 2008 Whoa ! McCain's kicks cap+trade to the curb.

By skicougar

>I was scrolling thru the Corner today(which is linked from here at Red State) and came across Kudlow's write up that McCain has let cap and trade fall off his campaign platform:

"Mac’s Off Cap-and-Trade [Larry Kudlow]

After writing favorably about Sen. McCain’s recent economics speeches, where he clearly shifted toward the supply-side both on tax cuts and producing more energy, I went back last evening and carefully read his 15-page policy pamphlet called “Jobs for America.” Here’s what I found: There is no mention of cap-and-trade. None. Nada. There is a section about “Cheap, Clean, Secure Energy for America: The Lexington Project.” But that talks about expanded domestic production of oil and gas, as well as the need for more nuclear power and coal along with alternative sources. Then it has the $300 million battery and flex-fuel cars. But nope, no cap-and-trade.

Posted at 9:55am on Jul. 9, 2008 Obamas elitism continues to grow.

By skicougar

Yesterday, in some speech; Obama implied that somehow Americans are not equal to other citizens as the typical American only speaks english.

Only someone like Obama who considers himself to know what is best for everyone would make such a statement.

English is the language of the world and as the world leaders, Americans are taught english and are therefore educated in the language the rest of the world must adhere to.

Posted at 4:17pm on Jul. 6, 2008 Obama's brother is a militant muslim, that's fresh.

By skicougar

I caught on Micheal Reagan's show that Obama's brother is a Muslim extremist, so I thought I would check it out.
Now, I am not naive enough to think 1 thing that his brother does thousands of miles away in Africa has any affect on Obama who may talk to him 5 times a year and see him once every 10 years; but with little digging I found this:

"Obama has close family ties to Kenya, and even founded a school in his ancestral village — the Senator Obama School."

Posted at 12:33pm on Jun. 27, 2008 Possible future court cases.

By skicougar

I just wanted to give some ideas on what a court pack with Ginsbergs appointed by Obama may rule on and thought I would pass it on to all in light of the recent rulings that gave us insight to how a conservative or liberal court might rule.

Allowing prayer or any religious activity before football games and all other events on government owned property used by educational organizations.

Personal and public displays of religion on government owned property used by educational organizations.

Posted at 5:57pm on Jun. 20, 2008 Frankly, my Democrats; ANWR does too make the US energy secure.

By skicougar

A constant banging drum anywhere outside of Alaska is that ANWR won't help the US energy crisis enough to make it worth drilling.

Not so fast "my friends" !

It seems that some guy named Krauthammer has done some research and has come up with this insight:

"At a time when U.S. crude oil production has fallen 40% in the last 25 years, 75 billion barrels of oil have been declared off-limits, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Posted at 2:24pm on Jun. 20, 2008 Dems Challenge Bush on Executive Ban on Offshore Drilling- GO GEORGE GO !

By skicougar

From Drudge's front page to here: http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewPolitics.asp?Page=/Politics/archive/200806/PO...

"Other leading Democrats on Capitol Hill also said they were surprised that Bush has not yet rescinded the executive office ban on drilling, which was established by his father, President George H.W. Bush, in 1990.

"What the president is doing is unfair to the American people to indicate, 'We will let Congress do something about it,' " Reid said. "He has the authority to do it himself."

Posted at 10:22am on Jun. 20, 2008 Obama’s campaign mirrors democratic party, give us your money; but don’t ask questions.

By skicougar

I was arguing with a medical doctor who is in the tank for Obama about Obama’s unfitness for position as president and world leader when he told me that despite everything that right wing radio and “Faux” news has done to frame Obama; he has lead a great organization.

That’s when it hit me. Obama has indeed run a great organization if the goals of an organization is to stockpile money and present a positive image while giving no tangible results.

Posted at 8:35pm on Jun. 17, 2008 Hate $4 gas ? Then be a part of the solution.

By skicougar

Ok, we all hate $4 gas; and we can either try and change that now; or we can let the problem get worse. Politicians are listening now, because they want your vote. If enough of you bother them enough, they will change. Just like a parent gives a 2 year old candy to shut them up; so will Congress if the people do not shut up.

There are 2 bills in the house that are in committee and if we are loud enough now, they just might see light of day. The first gets the ball rolling for oil shale production, the second gets the ball rolling for off shore drilling. The information is below.

Posted at 11:21am on May 26, 2008 He changed his mind, it would take a helmet and body to stop a grenade, Jason Dunham, MOH recipient.

By skicougar

Jason Dunham argued many times with his buddies that he thought if someone covered a grenade with a kevlar helmet; it would contain the blast and save those from the fragments.

He later changed that thought and concluded that it would take a helmet and someone lying on top of the helmet to be able to contain the blast.

On April 14, 2004; Corporal Jason Dunham proved his theory correct:

Corporal Dunham's squad was conducting a reconnaissance mission in the town of Karabilah, Iraq, when they heard rocket-propelled grenade and small arms fire erupt approximately two kilometers to the west. Corporal Dunham led his Combined Anti-Armor Team towards the engagement to provide fire support to their Battalion Commander's convoy, which had been ambushed as it was traveling to Camp Husaybah. As Corporal Dunham and his Marines advanced, they quickly began to receive enemy fire. Corporal Dunham ordered his squad to dismount their vehicles and led one of his fire teams on foot several blocks south of the ambushed convoy. Discovering seven Iraqi vehicles in a column attempting to depart, Corporal Dunham and his team stopped the vehicles to search them for weapons. As they approached the vehicles, an insurgent leaped out and attacked Corporal Dunham. Corporal Dunham wrestled the insurgent to the ground and in the ensuing struggle saw the insurgent release a grenade. Corporal Dunham immediately alerted his fellow Marines to the threat. Aware of the imminent danger and without hesitation, Corporal Dunham covered the grenade with his helmet and body, bearing the brunt of the explosion and shielding his Marines from the blast. In an ultimate and selfless act of bravery in which he was mortally wounded, he saved the lives of at least two fellow Marines. By his undaunted courage, intrepid fighting spirit, and unwavering devotion to duty, Corporal Dunham gallantly gave his life for his country, thereby reflecting great credit upon himself and upholding the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.

Posted at 12:58pm on May 20, 2008 Obama is government control/socialism.

By skicougar

While there was some flack over this statement by Obama: “We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK."

http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5h-wpxs1Re-8vx2Zk5xnYygW1W67w

I argue that there has not been enough. That one statement tells you just how Obama thinks and what kind of president he would be.

Posted at 5:32pm on May 14, 2008 While the US watched W. Va., the senate GOP took a shot at getting ANWR open and letting states drill offshore.

By skicougar

UPDATE: I found it !(the results of this amendment).

McConnell's amendment to Senate bill 2284, amendment # S.AMDT.4720; was considered on 5/8 and FAILED, 42-56 and withdrawn.

Allright, allow me to take this apart a little. It failed, 42-56; which means some republicans and most likely every democrat voted against the possibility of opening ANWR and allowing states the ability to drill off their coasts.

Posted at 2:18pm on May 13, 2008 The polar bears will drown the US energy industry, not themselves.

By skicougar

Yes, I know; we all love the cute coca-cola polar bears, but the truth is they are not dying out or drowning and are not worthy of putting on the endangered species list at the expense of our economy..

Instead, polar bears have increased their numbers substantially, from an estimated 8,000–10,000 in 1965–1970 to 20,000–25,000 today. Clearly, any warming that has occurred has not had an adverse impact on polar bear numbers. This is true of the polar bear populations in Alaska, Canada, Russia, and other nations.

Posted at 12:53pm on May 8, 2008 Gas tax holiday is Political, Obama ? Then why did you vote for it 3 times ?

By skicougar

From todays investor business daily editorials: http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticles.aspx?id=295051737752027

"Obama took a different view on the issue when he was an Illinois legislator, voting at least three times in favor of temporarily lifting the state's 5% sales tax on gasoline. The tax holiday was finally approved during a special session in June 2000, when Illinois motorists were furious that gas prices had just topped $2 a gallon in Chicago. Seems he was for a gas-tax moratorium before he was against it."

Posted at 10:14am on May 2, 2008 Way to go OReilly ! Take notes Wallace !

By skicougar

I was pleasantly suprised with the Orielly-Hillary interview after watching Wallace's Obama interview.

Unlike Wallace, ORielly stated mostly with tough questions that you would ask someone running for president. Iraq, immigration, taxes, energy policy; anyone who watched that; knows where Hillary stands and what she would do. I don't
know that you have answers to those questions in all of the previous debates and interviews Hillary has done. Could he have gone harder and show her as the socialist she is, yes; but he wants her to come back and Obama to come on.

Posted at 3:56pm on Apr. 11, 2008 Oh no, more oil found in the US; wonder if we'll get to use it.

Huge Oil Reservoir May Lie Under Northern Plains -

BISMARCK, N.D. — The government estimates up to 4.3 billion barrels of oil can be recovered from the Bakken shale formation in North Dakota and Montana, using current technology.

The U.S. Geological Survey calls it the largest continuous oil accumulation it has ever assessed.

An assessment by USGS in 1999 found the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge had 10.3 billion barrels of recoverable oil, said Brenda Pierce, a geologist for the agency.
