Cindy McCain on her husband

I am up in New Hampshire. As soon as I hit "Submit" on this post, I will go to a Rudy Giuliani event. Last night I went to a John McCain event in Laconia, NH. Here's the local coverage. The turnout was gangbusters. 250-300 people on a night with lots of snowfall. (I spun out on the road, but my little car just bounced off a snowdrift)

Read on.

Some candidates, especially Mitt Romney, have been making issues of their family. I thought it was interesting to see how the McCain campaign uses Cindy.

Not to read strategy into everything, but I think that she is making a comparison to Romney's family. Romney famously said that his children are serving their country by working on his campaign. She says that her children's service created a need for a real leader ... like her husband. Or at least that's the strategy that I think I see in this.

Anyways. More coming this evening after the Rudy event.

I'll say at least Cindy got that description of her husband right. He's not a man for these times, either, quite unfortunately.

proven record on life, spending, the war. However, seeing his wife talk about their son seems real and not manufactured. Much more powerful than the alternative.

But I've heard Fred's wife interviewed a couple of times and have been very impressed with her. I'll admit that I had fallen into the "younger attractive trophy wife" trap. I think she would make a solid first lady.

I heard her on some show the other day (Hannity maybe?) and thought she sounded like a better presidential candidate than any of the guys we have to choose from!

P.S. I saw the title of this entry and prayed it wasn't about some leaked sex tape.

Could we have a campaign without deaths in the snowbanks? Be careful. And no more scares.

Today when McCain was questioned about being too old to be president, he replied that he may choose to serve only one term. Just what we need, a lame duck going into office.

or at least that's what I gather...I mean seriously, who thinks about serving just one term going in, besides George Washington?

If memory serves me well, doesn't the incoming VP get sworn in before the President-elect? I believe that's what I was taught in my government class in high school. If so, then heck, someone name him their VP and for a short while, probably 15 minutes, he can be the President....Then he can resign and do what he's best suited for Secretary of Defense.

that I read from people who are more open to the likes of Giuliani and Huck Huck Huckabee, who are each in actuality to the left of McCain. So McCain tried to reach out and govern in as a moderate in a state with a high Hispanic population, which, like it or not, is strongly Catholic and important to the future of the Conservative movement. So he made an honest attempt at finance reform and failed.

Do we only reward the timid souls who stay out of the arena? We reward do-nothings and punish those who at least put themselves out there in an attempt to do something to change an unacceptable border situtation? I guess so, and it is this country-club mentality that sunk the Repubs in 2006.

The most important issue facing this nation is the existential threats posed by Iran, China and the Islamist movement. National security is our trump card, and we seem all too happy to marginalize the only true warrior in the race. It just seems so pathetic.
