Posted at 4:40am on May 19, 2008 Obama: Other Countries Not OK With Your Freedom!
By South Park Conservative
During a rally in Roseburg, Oregon on Saturday, Obama said, "We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,"
Is that so Senator Obama? Unfortunately for you and "other countries", I keep my home at 74 degrees. I eat as much I want when eating at a restaurant or whenever my lovely girlfriend prepares a home-cooked meal. I don't own an SUV but if I had a large family I would buy one and I could not possibly care any less what you or any other countries have to say about it. As far as I'm concerned, anything else would be simply unamerican.

Posted at 1:14am on Apr. 4, 2008 Newsweek: Prayer Book Threatens our Troops
By South Park Conservative
In "A Good Book in Camouflage", Newsweek reporter Lisa Miller uncovers the hidden dangers that a popular prayer book pose to our soldiers. Go ahead and read it. It's only about a page long.
The article points out that the book claims that Christianity is the one true religion. Gasp. I'm guessing that the Koran says that Islam is the one true religion. Should it be banned from U.S. military bases?

Posted at 5:12pm on Mar. 27, 2008 Newsweek: "Provocative" Free Speech to Blame for Murder by Islamic Radicals
By South Park Conservative
In the article "Christian Rage and Muslim Moderation", Christopher Dickey makes the case that Christians exercising their right to free speech (ie. rage) are to blame for murder committed by Islamic Radicals (ie. moderation).
This is a textbook case of the second rule of liberalism. Incase you were wondering, the first rule is that regardless of the question government is, in fact, the answer. The rule so clearly displayed in this article is that perpetrators of a crime are never to blame if they are a "disadvantaged" ethnic group, especially one liberals are afraid of.

Posted at 12:06am on Feb. 29, 2008 Obama Myths: "Every American Has a Right to Affordable Healthcare"
By South Park Conservative
There is nothing liberals love talking about more than a right to healthcare. It's so obvious to the mainstream media that they skip right to discussing whether Hillary can keep her lead with blue-collar hispanics over 65. The question is: By what defition of rights is healthcare a right?
If healthcare is a right, then food, shelter, and clothing are obviously rights. So why doesn't the government fund them? Because we can't afford it!

Posted at 4:27pm on Feb. 27, 2008 MSM continues to hurl pebbles at a victorious William F. Buckley
By South Park Conservative
Still smarting from Buckley's ability to come up with a better argument than the liberal orthodoxy using only his pinky finger, the AP lashes out like an upset child by trying to paint him in an unfair and unflattering light.
The very first sentence of the article is, "William F. Buckley Jr., the erudite Ivy Leaguer and conservative herald who showered huge and scornful words on liberalism as he observed, abetted and cheered on the right’s post-World War II rise from the fringes to the White House, died Wednesday."

Posted at 6:18pm on Feb. 7, 2008 Pros and Cons of John McCain
By South Park Conservative
This is just a simple exercise comparing the pros and cons of a McCain presidency, keeping in mind the alternative of a Democratic victory but not giving him a pass on issues he is wrong on. I approached this as someone struggling to decide whether he is worth supporting myself. Perhaps it will help some people start to decide whether it is worth supporting him in the general election.
Pros:

Posted at 2:02am on Jan. 22, 2008 A Crazy Idea to Cut the Number of Abortions
By South Park Conservative
Now I just thought of this idea today, so there's a good chance I simply haven't thought it through long enough, but I trust that you all will be able to help me figure out whether it's crazy or brilliant.
I've been pondering the fact that it is incredibly unlikely for a woman to get pregnant if she is on the pill and the man is wearing a condom. I'm glad that the rate of abortion has dropped by well over a third since the late 70's, but why do we still have 1.2 million abortions in this country? Why have around 1/3rd of women had abortions? Given how easy it is to reduce your chance of pregnancy to around 0.1% annually there is no conclusion but that about 99% of people who have abortions have behaved irresponsibly.

Posted at 2:33am on Jan. 10, 2008 Giuliani v. McCain v. Huckabee by Florida?
By South Park Conservative
Michigan and South Carolina may each end up knocking a candidate out of the race. If McCain trounces Romney in Michigan, it may be one too many losses for his campaign, especially if Huckabee comes in second. This also gives McCain a lot of momentum and makes him the new frontrunner.
It's clearly possible that Romney could soldier on, but if his support falls dramatically or he drops after South Carolina, the effect on the Florida race will be similar to if he had dropped out after Michigan.

Posted at 2:38pm on Dec. 11, 2007 The Surge not #1 on TIME's Top 10 News Stories of 2007
By South Park Conservative
So where did TIME see fit to list the incredibly turnaround in a major U.S. war?
We find the story "Petraeus Under Fire" at number 5. It is telling that the story is called Petraeus under fire rather than "the surge". It focuses on the grilling by Democrats of a government official rather than the infinitely more important developments on the ground. But what do real world consequences matter when there is a pro-Bush military pig to be grilled?

Posted at 2:17am on Nov. 30, 2007 Comparing the candidates on the issues: Taxes
By South Park Conservative
Taxes
Rudy Giuliani cut taxes 23 times, allowing New York City taxpayers to keep $9 billion more of their own money. He promises to cut taxes or at least keep them the same.
Fred Thompson has adopted the Republican Study Committee proposal of a 10% income tax rate up to $100,000 for married couples with a 25% rate after that. I think it's an exceptional proposal. He also wants to cut the corporate tax rate from 35% to 27% or lower.

Posted at 3:10pm on Nov. 28, 2007 What is Giuliani's path to the nomination?
By South Park Conservative
Everyone knows that Romney's plan to win the nomination is to win Iowa and New Hampshire, which will give him momentum through Super Tuesday. We have heard that Giuliani's plan is to win Florida and the Super Tuesday states, but I think that's a simplistic analysis. I want to offer a different way to look at this primary campaign than the current conventional wisdom. I am convinced that the central battlegrounds in this campaign are Iowa and Michigan.

By South Park Conservative
Whatever your position on the Republican nominees, I want to make sure that we don't lose sight of exactly why we want to win. So why exactly don't we want a Clinton presidency? Listed below are at least six reasons why we absolutely must prevent a second Clinton presidency.
1. Ending illegal immigration
2. Preventing a huge tax increase
3. Stopping government-run healthcare
4. Privatizing Social Security

Posted at 11:08pm on Aug. 20, 2007 Hillary Clinton says the Surge is Working!?
By South Park Conservative
'New military tactics in Iraq are working but the best way to honor U.S. soldiers is "by beginning to bring them home," Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton told war veterans Monday.'
Wow. I'm shocked that any of the Democratic candidates have admitted the surge is working this quickly after they have declared the war lost and called for our retreat for so long. If Hillary freakin' Clinton is saying that the surge is a success, then it really must be. This leaves us with two questions. Where do we go from here in Iraq? What does this mean politically for Clinton and the Democrats?

Posted at 2:38pm on Aug. 16, 2007 The Rise of Mike Huckabee
By South Park Conservative
The Ames Straw Poll was smaller and probably less meaningful than ever this year. Nonetheless, there's no denying that Huckabee's performance was impressive. He got out half as many votes as Mitt Romney with a tiny fraction of the resources. But as conservatives we should ask ourselves whether his rise into what I would describe as the bottom of the top tier is a good thing or not.
Some pundits and bloggers have argued that perhaps Huckabee got such an impressive result thanks to the Fair Taxers showing up to support him. Having sorted mail as an intern in a congressional office, I know how big and dedicated this group can be. This support is ironic because the Fair Tax was created by two very libertarian people, Neal Boortz and John Linder. Huckabee on the other hand sounds more like John Edwards when he talks about economic issues. And he's got the tax raising history to back up that Big Government rhetoric.
