Why would anyone believe Sandy Berger?

I am reluctant to start another "Path To 9/11" diary, but this point hasn't really been addressed and is too long to be a reply or post. And while the Democrats continue to draw attention to their weaknesses and love of censorship, why let a good thing pass?

It appears ABC has eliminated a scene from "Path To 9/11" largely because of a complaint from Clinton's National Security Advisor, Sandy Berger, which has been echoed by fellow Democrats.

Reuters reports:

...one scene singled out for criticism by Democrats -- depicting CIA operatives and Afghan fighters coming close to capturing Osama bin Laden in the 1990s, only for then-national security advisor Samuel Berger to refuse authorization of the mission -- was a "conflation of events."

Berger said in a letter to Iger earlier this week that "no such episode ever occurred, nor did anything like it."

I won't dwell on whether this was a "conflation of events" or "no such episode ever occurred." The Democrats have adopted Clintonspeak as their native tongue now, so efforts to pin down meanings are pointless. At worst, this scene was a composite of events but the Left will say that renders any implication that could be drawn from it false.

The question for me is how anyone could find Berger credible. Just to refresh, via FOX:

For months, he called it an honest mistake.

But on Friday, Sandy Berger (search) pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor in federal court. Berger, who served as President Clinton's national security adviser, is acknowledging that it wasn't an honest mistake and that he intentionally took and destroyed copies of classified documents from the National Archives (search) and cut them up with scissors.

Berger acknowledged to U.S. Magistrate Deborah Robinson that he intentionally took and deliberately destroyed three copies of the same document dealing with terror threats during the 2000 millennium (search) celebration. He then lied about it to Archives staff when they told him the documents were missing.

Point 1: Sandy Berger admitted in court he was a liar and thief.

More from FOX:

Initially, Berger did not tell the Archives staff that he had taken the documents but later that night told Archives staff that he had "accidentally misfiled" two of them, according to the Justice Department. The next day, he returned to Archives staff the two remaining copies of the five documents he had taken during the September and October visits. Each of the five copies of the document was then given to the Sept. 11 commission.

Point 2: Berger lied outside of court to Archives staff.

And finally:

"In his plea, Berger also admitted that he concealed and removed his handwritten notes from the Archives prior to a classification review, in violation of Archives rules and procedures," reads the DOJ statement. "Those notes have been returned to the government."

But still missing are drafts of a sensitive after-action report on the Clinton administration's response to a failed terror plot to blow up the Los Angeles International Airport during December 1999, otherwise known as "the Millennium plot."

One source told FOX News that the report was critical of how the Clinton administration handled Al Qaeda threats to the U.S. homeland and that the missing report made security recommendations that were never implemented.

Point 3: Berger's lies and theft were self-serving and an apparent attempt to hide the Clinton Administration's mishandling of al-Qaeda threats to the American homeland in and prior to 1999.

For those who don't know, after action reports can be great resources for governmental infighting and often are a recap of years of failures. There is no reason to believe the "still missing drafts" were not similar in nature.

What strikes me here is that an admitted liar, thief, and person who wanted to hide the Clinton Administration's mishandling of terrorism suddenly is credible enough to have a scene removed from a docudrama--a scene that symbolizes the Clinton Administration's mishandling of terrorism. Amazing. I won't say more since this is a profanity-free zone.

And 5.

and the reminder of obstruction of justice.

But I especially liked this line:

The Democrats have adopted Clintonspeak as their native tongue now, so efforts to pin down meanings are pointless.

And you are right. Anyone who believes Sandy Burglar is foolish.

I meant what I said and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful 100 percent.

...but I'll repeat it here: It was a mistake for Berger to howl about injustice. He was close to having his little theft fade quietly into history.

On the matter of unimplemented actions. Clinton's biography describes him asking, in 1998, for people on his team to plan a commando raid on Bin Laden's camp. I do not recall any such raid occuring.

The Clintonista resort to the personal destruction of critics has pushed up a lot of sordid memories that were ready to go to the bottom of the blog. They really can't help themselves, although I read earlier that Hillary's entourage kept reporters away from her today. That temporary lapse of sanity probably will be followed by a full-blown, I'm-so-wounded press conference Wednesday if ABC sticks to its guns and airs anything less than a big wet kiss.

They don't. They are invested in him and the liberal world view. Truth means nothing to the MSM, incl ABC. What matters is plausible deniability, with the word plausible dumbed down. having someting to hang one's hat on so that one can avoid responsibility, all for the purpose of advancing their liberal agenda.

Excellent highlighting of some important facts that should not be forgotten. I'm glad to you pointed this out.

Fascinating how everyone howling about this soon-to-be-sliced-to-ribbons ABC docudrama are on record as being veracity-challenged. As I mentioned in my diary entry, Richard Clarke and Susan Rice are both on record as having publicly lied about a key event that Bill Clinton later admitted happened.

Why indeed does anyone believe anything any of these people say?

Clinton lost his law license, Berger was convicted, Clarke's lies were exposed by his boss, ad nauseum. What astonishes me is the deference paid to this motley crew, despite the obvious political biases of the deferential.

I deserve it for this:

That criminal Sandy Berger complained that his portrayal was unfavorable. No, Mr. Berger: it's your actions that were unfavorable. He dares scream about justice? Justice would have taken him on a tour of the North Tower on that Tuesday.

Socrates, I am hereby banning you to the Hemlock Club, which is a very private enclave of secret Republican intrigue run by Karl Rove in his off hours, beneath the White House press room. In a few hours, you will receive your bona-fides in the form of a PGP-encrypted transmission that will contain a globally-unique identifier that will grant you access to the secret sliding door beneath the men's restroom sink. First you have to turn the soap dish 90 degrees counterclockwise while looking directly into the slightly discolored center lamp above the vanity while the laser scanner reads your retina. Then you will be asked to swipe your card and enter the code. Soon you will join us.

In the meantime, Sandy Berger is only guilty of walking off with actual classified national security documents that he stuffed into his pants. Howie Carr, otherwise known as Agent 101101011011 here in Massachusetts, has his *ss in a sling already.

If you're seeing shades of gray, it's because you're not looking close enough to see the black and white dots.

Don't be reluctant to start a diary about this. It's important that we talk about it as much as possible, because the self-styled Center for Digital Democracy isn't saying much about this attempt by the Democrats to prevent the American public from seeing and hearing things that don't fit their talking points. They're completely silent while waiting to hear back from...

Aw Jeff, what's wrong? When there's a little bit of bad news in an MSM docudrama, you guys go all pale and just retreat back into your shells? Where's the outrage, Jeff? Where's the balance? Why isn't CfDD talking about how terrible this blatant attempt to manipulate the stories available to the public on the part of the Democrat elite really is?

Prior to his media policy career, Jeff was a psychiatric social worker, investigative journalist, and a documentary filmmaker. His work has appeared on PBS, NPR and in many print publications. He also co-led the successful effort that resulted in the Congressional creation of the Independent Television Service. Jeff was also a co-founder of the National Campaign for Freedom of Expression, an artists rights advocacy group. He received his MSW in Community Mental Health from UC Berkeley in 1978 and his BA in psychology from California State University, San Francisco in 1975.

for this gift. But dang, how awful to see it rise from the ashes.

Thanks for reminding me that Berger is just another dishonest liar from Clinton's gang of thieves. This attempt to rewrite history by destroying documents is a most despicable action. It takes the facts of an honest debate and supplants them with self serving, dishonest propaganda.

This has to be one of the most blatant attempts to hide history. It only makes me more curious about what we do not know (or may never know) about their lack of action and inability to make terrorism a paramount concern. Their recent challenge to the 9-11 movie is just one more attempt to cover the facts.

Overall, if they would have been as concerned about terrorism as they are about their own reputations, 9-11-01 may have been just another beautiful September day.

You will have to excuse me now. I am going to find some Toprol.
