According to the Associated Press

As is standard procedure when covering Democrat scandals, no party affiliation is mentioned, however he is referred to as "one-time rising star", and "popular yet polarizing".

Kilpatrick is also an Obama superdelegate.

the Democrat party for keeping me personally entertained on a daily basis.....you guys and gals doing the work that trained comedians won't do ;-)

Freedom of Religion not Freedom from Religion

It seems that America is filled with crooked Democrats. We have had a few Republicans, there is no doubt. But, the Democratic ranks just seem to be filled with these crooks.

David Paterson Must Go

I'm waiting for the racism allegations to start flinging in this one. I mean, come on, only a racist would indict Kilpatrick.

RNC? Anyone there?

really, it can. There's a bazillion AAGs and investigators who aren't at all involved in The War and who get paid every two weeks whether they do anything or not.

in the Country with just a little attention by the Public Integrity Section or even by competent federal auditors from the cognizant agencies that funnel money to the cities. The Democrats had untrammelled power at the federal level for so long that they made much of their particular forms of graft and corruption legal. That said, the shadow government they've built of non-profits and contractors and the way they funnel money and people through them as well as the very obvious reasons for that funnelling are low hanging fruit for any prosectutor who wants to go there. The trouble is most of those mayors are Black and no Republican wants to take the firestorm of "RACIST" allegations. There's no way that prosecutor would have dared charge Fitzpatrick if she were White. Even so, the defense attorney is already talking about selective prosecution and the usual suspects will be howling racist within the hour.

...how this is just another example of how white people don't understand how black folk govern.

these democrat "superdelegates" who are going steal the election, and many of them are now facing long term prison sentences....spitizer, jefferson, kwame

So now, which party has the "culture of corruption"?

Any chance those prosecutors can take a look down here at Chicago?

Oh gosh, how I would LOVE to see Blago indicted and disgraced. That man is a snake.

Saw this in the recent posts list right as I hit submit on my own post on the subject...oh well.

"Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first."
Ronald Reagan

He said he got his politics from his family, by osmosis. (my phrasing, not his). The understanding I took away from his interview was that he was a Democrat because his family was. He came by it naturally.

I remember thinking that it was odd that a grown man, particularly one so influential, would espouse an ideology for ANY reason other than he was personally convinced of its validity and correctness. As the old sayings go - being in church don't make you a Christian and being in the garage don't make you a car!

It would seem Hizzoner is reaping what he has sown. If there is nothing that you are personally willing to stand for, then there is nothing that you will not do to advance yourself personally.

Nagin firm gets local deal with Home Depot

...Stone Age LLC, a granite and marble business founded in early 2005 by the mayor and his two sons, ... landed a deal with Home Depot under which Stone Age would be cutting and installing all granite countertops purchased at four of the giant retailer's other local outposts.

It's not clear how active a role Nagin takes in the family business. The mayor declined to answer questions. He is listed on a state license as a vice president and on corporate records as one of three members. The other two are sons Jeremy, 23, and Jarin, 21. The mayor's 2007 daily planner shows a meeting with "Home Depot" on Feb. 1 at Stone Age's offices, then located on Earhart Boulevard. Stone Age got the contract with the retailer two months later.

...and an editorial on same:
Mayoral bar gets even lower

Nagin is, by the way, a Democrat.

have to go through all sorts of hoops in zoning, permitting, and sometimes financing. That gives government a piece of the action at every step. You won't get your zoning if you don't play ball with the greenies, the unions, the political in-crowd. You won't get your permit unless you give alms to the greenies, a project labor agreement to the unions, jobs to all the mayor and councilmen's friends, and a bribe here and there to sundry bureaucrats, lobbyists, and people who say they know somebody. That's just the way it works.

considering it was a sex scandal that brought about the perjury.

All he did was commit perjury regarding sex. Just a few short years ago, we heard endlessly how that was no big deal.

Now a black guy does it and it's a big deal. I guess a person needs to be the first "black" president to get away with it. Actual persons of pigment need not apply.

I wish the media would make up their minds. Big deal? No big deal?
