The California Energy Commission has proposed new rules that would allow the commission to electronically control the thermostats of individual homes across the state.

I would rather experience rolling blackouts, then hand anonymous government bureaucrats direct control over anything in my home. California goes even further; not only do they have direct control, they have the ability to override the settings placed by the homeowner.

For those of us in the free world, blogging is one of many ways that we can engage in open discourse. It's a freedom that many take for granted.

For those in other parts of the world, blogging can often be their only outlet to criticize their government and their society. Often times, these are people who risk everything, for the opportunity to freely discuss the world around them. From Iran to China, these individuals can pay with their lives for blogging.

In the midst of political controversy, it is easy to overlook good people who desire only to serve their country to the best of their ability. Believe it or not, such people actually exist. Tim Griffin is one such individual.

During the recent DOJ scandal, the liberal media routinely highlighted Tim Griffin not for being involved in any of the decision-making, but for being appointed to fill one of the vacant positions in government.

So, who was this man that the Administration had the audacity to appoint to federal service?

I didn’t know Cpl Chris Mason and this isn’t breaking news. Yet, it is something that I feel is important to share. Take a moment and honor this hero.

I was struck by this video post that was produced in honor of Cpl Chris Mason; I felt compelled to post it here.

Cpl Chris Mason fought with the 82nd Airborne in Iraq, proudly serving in the War on Terrorism. Last November, he was killed in the small town of Siniyah, Iraq serving his country and the cause of freedom.
