Thompson, first to act, asks for extra time as he considers his cards and the play of his opponents.
McCain's appearance at the final table is no surprise. The runner up of the last competition fell to Bush in 2000, disappointing not only his supporters but the left media as well. Hopes were high that his experience then would propel him to the winners seat this time around, however he made some terrible gambles with his stack, (CFR, The Gang of 14, Amnesty), and now is one hand away from elimination after having his best chance at the big prize. His strategy now is to fly low and hope for a chance to double up on luck, or an opponent's misfortune. Maybe he has something...
