From the Times-Picayune:
Jindal Leads Comfortably in Latest Poll

Jindal, a congressman representing the 1st District, led with 63 percent, followed by state Sen. Walter Boasso, D-Arabi, with 14.3 percent, Democratic Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell with 4.4 percent and Republican Metaire businessman John Georges with 1.3 percent.

In the poll that included Nagin, Jindal had 60.3 percent followed by Nagin with 10.5 percent, Boasso with 10 percent, Campbell with 3.3 percent and Georges with 1.5 percent. Nagin, a Democrat serving his second term as mayor, has not announced his intentions for the future.

So "Other/No preference" went from 17% to 14.4% when Nagin's name is inserted. Got to think a primary victory/mandate looks pretty good for Bobby at this point. Personally, I don't think there's any way that Nagin will run.

"Bobby '16" bumper stickers on order now.

That is what I have been thinking. Jindal has what I am loking for a man with a program, a big view, focused and the ability to put it through. That is becoming more important to me then ideological purity. No country clubbers please. They only ones like him (so far that I can see)are Demint, Coburn, Rudy and Mitt.

That is our dream ticket for 2016. If Paul Ryan were at the top of the ticket and Bobby #2, I'd be all right with that as well.

who will he help defeat Mary Landrieu?

Bring on the coattails.

I just get too excited (Bobby in '16!!!) and I think a Bobby Jindal landslide this year will help whoever the R nominee is next year, not in direct manner that coattails usually is.

It's almost too bad that he's not doing what he's doing in a state that's up for grabs in the presidential sweepstakes.

From a purely political standpoint, wouldn't it be nice for our side if it were Pennsylvania or Ohio where he was running, instead of a state which is almost certainly going in the red column anyway?

I do think he has his sights set on the White House, BTW. He's shown remarkably little interest in legislative positions. He took the House seat as a consolation prize. But he didn't want to run for Senate -- despite being the likely favorite in that race, too.

It's always puzzled me that people with their sights set on the presidency have been so likely to use the Senate as their springboard -- when the Senate has such a poor record as a springboard to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Jindal wants to be Governor of Louisiana. Maybe, maybe, he will think about running for President in the future. But his entire career has been about becoming Governor.

He has worked in several statewide offices. He learned every aspect of the state government. It is the GOP and, hopefully, America's gain that he will be a young two-term Governor who has time to run for a national office if he wants.

But unlike Clinton, Bush, and a horde of other ex-Governors, Jindal is not using this as a catapult. He sincerely wants to take Louisiana off the "50th" place on so many lists.

Bobby Jindal Saves Louisiana

was that Boasso was cleaning Jindal's clock by calling him a Bush puppet with a 100% pro-Bush voting record. This was not that long ago, perhaps over the weekend.

It might have been a dKos diary, so I suppose it we'd have to consider the source. I did, of course, and thank you for some real, solid info on this one.

He was a Republican until Breaux pulled out.

He's putting $5 million or so of his own money into a heavy radio & TV campaign. The TV ads feature a cardboard cut-out of Bobby; God only knows what the point of that is. Jindal took a personal hit in Katrina like the bulk of his constituents, and his butt was on the ground providing real leadership, cutting red tape and calling in favors, when doing so meant lives were being saved.

His newest ads, which I first saw over the weekend, try to join Jindal & President Bush at the hip on Iraq. Boasso, the international statesman, wants to pull all troops out of Iraq now, especially the LA National Guard.

Oh, really, Walter? Just how do you plan to pull that one off?

Are we really to believe that La voters would be so dense as to not realize that governors are not involved u foreign policy? Why is someone running for governor attacking another's position on foreign policy?

High credibility with some folks.

The second coming of Huey Pierce Long.

No Long, no Southern Dixecrat of that period would ever dare to say that sort of thing and not expect to be tar and feathered.

Say what you want about Huey and the whole Long clan, they were not one little bit left when it came to national defense. Pigs at the trough when it came to Pork and Gove'ment money, corrupt to the core...heck yes, but weak on defense no way.

None of the Above !

Long was a running buddy of Gerald L.K. Smith, Father Tom Coughlin, and the America First isolationist crowd.

Huey cared about Huey, his cronies, and the "little man", strictly in that order. I'm not sure issues of foreign policy or national defense were even on his radar.

What an utter doofus. This ad lays bare why Buffoon wasn't on the Dems' A, B, or C tier of preferred candidates for governor.

Excuse me while I wipe off the slime that oozed out of that ad onto my keyboard....

The only problem is going to be how much of a mess Blanco's going to be leaving behind for Bobby to clean up before being able to straighten out our state.

I'm definitely not worried about Nagin in the least. He did such a wonderful job with Katrina, and we all know how much of an excellent public speaker he is, and how much forethought goes into what he says...

Go Bobby! Red State! Red State! Red State!

In January 2007, PBS reported that Betty Ann Bowser said "Within the next six weeks, the courts, the city council, the police, and just about every civic organization in New Orleans is expected to make their ideas public on what can be done, even with limited resources, to make the streets of the city safe once again."

In an addittional comment "BETTY ANN BOWSER: Riley says, 18 months after Katrina, the police should not still be working and living in trailers. He says FEMA still cannot give the department a date when his officers will be working from permanent housing."

What does FEMA have to do with obtaining permanent housing for the police? Surely the state or city can find somewehere more solid than trailers for the police.

August 10, 2007According to Nagin "Do I worry about it? Somewhat, it's not good for us, but it also keeps the New Orleans brand out there, and it keeps people thinking about our needs and what we need to bring this community back. So, it is kind of a two-edged sword"

Surely, after over six months, not just six weeks, the Mayor has something better to offer the citizens of Nwe Orleans.

Would you want to move your business to NO right now? I mean their brand is out there for all of us to see.

of a trend. Are there some good GOP candidates for the ride? Jindal is a good campaigner and very likable.
