On that Former Arkansas Governor, What's-His-Name

For the most part, I've been on the sidelines so far in this Presidential circus. With the exception of TDSWSNBN, I have declared my intention to ultimately vote for whichever Republican emerges from the convention as the Party's standard bearer. To me, the endless string of bot-induced anti-Candidate X diaries is mind-numbingly boring and counterproductive to the Republican cause.

That being said, the potential nomination of Mike Huckabee as Republican candidate for President next November troubles me. The reason has nothing to do with policy. He has a major handicap as a candidate that will benefit whoever gains the Democratic nomination.

Huckabee was a two-term governor of the great state of Arkansas. Somewhere along the way, he is bound to have stepped on some toes.

Bill Clinton was also a two-term governor of Arkansas. Arkansas is a very small state; the significance of that statement may be lost on you, my brethern, who inhabit states with much larger populations or more diverse economies.

Perhaps to a degree that is rivaled by no other state, Arkansas is an oligarchy. Cast a net over Wal-Mart, Tyson Chicken and Stephens, Inc., and you've captured the state's commercial foundation. Throw in the famous Rose Law Firm, the legislature and the University, and you have the state by the gonads.

If Hillary Clinton is the eventual Democratic nominee, the Clinton War Machine will go to DefCon 5. If the Democrats choose another candidate, we'll still see DefCon 3 (at a minimum) from the Clintons, who would still benefit greatly from any Democratic administration in D.C.

If there are bodies to be unearthed in Arkansas, Bill and Hillary Clinton will know where they are buried. And I use that phrase figuratively, of course.
