Asleep At The Wheel, VP Choices, and Other Scenarios

As Barack Obama goes on a "Define Myself" tour John McCain seems to be asleep at the wheel. It's like he's the only one standing still in a room full of moving people. As a Republican this concerns me because he's missing out on a chance to really set his message and theme of his campaign in stone. While Obama freely flips from one stance to another, turns everything from Patriotism to socks into a speech or a theme; John McCain goes to Columbia?
Now honestly I'm not sold on either candidate. I'm a Libertarian so I'm stuck between Bob Barr and John McCain. It's like the Libertarian core that I've come to embrace, coupled with my registration as a Republican; it's too much for this young man to bare.
I know for sure Libertarians won't vote for Obama. They'll go for Bob Barr, continue to keep the Ron Paul express alive, or vote McCain. Barack Obama represents the complete opposite of what Libertarians stand for. Even though Bob Barr might hurt McCain and help Obama in the fall election.
McCain needs to shake up his election via his VP choice. Maybe a Bobby Jindal or a Sarah Palin might put a nice twist on the election. McCain, the maverick that he is won't make that decision. Both Jindal and Palin are too inexperienced, although this "change" feel in the air might drive McCain to make such a pick.
I personally would like to see McCain choose Bobby Jindal. If not him them maybe John Thune or Charlie Crist. Crist will certainly deliver Florida. Jindal gives you Louisiana, and maybe other southern states. His fresh appeal might turn the heads of Independents who aren't sold on Obama.
If Obama chooses someone like Kathleen Sebelius or Hillary Clinton then McCain almost certainly has to go for a female VP. Again, maybe a Sarah Palin, Kaye Bailey Hutchinson, or here's a wild card pick, how about Hillary Clinton? Clinton and McCain know each other on a personal level, she knows more about him than Obama, she's only supporting Obama because the Democratic leaders have a gun to her head; why not?
All in all McCain better get with the program or his dim chances will get dimmer by the hour. He's losing the PR battle no surprise, Obama has the media in his pocket like John Gotti has politicians on the payroll. Everything Obama does gets shredded in the paper shredder and is a non issue. So McCain has to tap into what Hillary Clinton did to win 7 out of 9 primaries in March, April, and May. He needs to become the gritty fighting underdog taking on let's face it, a manufactured political movement. Barack and Michelle Obama have more Publicists than Brad and Angelina. It's like American Idol President Edition.
So if I were McCain I would first come back to the country where people can actually vote for you, tap into my fighting spirit, make everyone view Obama as this media created, Teflon Elitist that's been marketed like a new soft drink.
It worked for Hillary for three months. How worse can it get for McCain? He should at least try to do it. Instead of walking around like a zombie while the other guy wins the election.
I make no bones about my admiration for Bobby Jindal... But I would rather he turn Louisiana around and then run on a record of accomplishment, than on a promise of change and a Reaganesque potential. He is a native of Louisiana, he loves the state, he's stated again and again that he has the job he wants... lets give a politician a chance to actually practice what he preaches. I have high hopes for Jindal... but I am not going to give him a pass just because he talks conservative and gives great speeches. Thats what Obama does... and I'm not a fan of people who go down that road.
I would love to support Jindal... but let him prove his pedigree. Nothing would make me happier than a President Jindal in 2012 or 2016... until then, let him prove himself in Louisiana.

It seems to me that Obama is doing more damage to himself than McCain could have. Hell, even Daily Kos is mad at him. At this rate, Obama will have weakened his cult and McCain can come in later and start chipping away at the rusty pieces.
