Obama Sought Endorsement of Marxist Third Party in 1996

Here is some interesting as well as character confirming info about one of Barack Obama's former runs for office. Apparently, Obama actively sought and received the stamp of approval of a Marxist third party that operated briefly in Chicago between 1992 and 1998. The group was called the "New Party" and was started in 1992 by Daniel Cantor (a former staffer for Jesse Jackson's 1988 presidential campaign) and Joel Rogers (a sociology and law professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison).

Read on . . .

The New Party was a Marxist political coalition whose objective was to endorse and elect leftist public officials -- most often Democrats. The New Party's short-term objective was to move the Democratic Party leftward, thereby setting the stage for the eventual rise of new Marxist third party.

Most New Party members hailed from the Democratic Socialists of America and the militant organization ACORN. The party's Chicago chapter also included a large contingent from the Committees of Correspondence, a Marxist coalition of former Maoists, Trotskyists, and Communist Party USA members.

The New Party's modus operandi included the political strategy of "electoral fusion," where it would nominate, for various political offices, candidates from other parties (usually Democrats), thereby enabling each of those candidates to occupy more than one ballot line in the voting booth. By so doing, the New Party often was able to influence candidates' platforms. (Fusion of this type is permitted in seven states -- Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Mississippi, New York, South Carolina, and Vermont -- but is common only in New York.)

Though Illinois was not one of the states that permitted electoral fusion, in 1995 Barack Obama nonetheless sought the New Party's endorsement for his 1996 state senate run. He was successful in obtaining that endorsement, and he used a number of New Party volunteers as campaign workers.

In 1996, three of the four candidates endorsed by the New Party won their electoral primaries. The three victors included Barack Obama (in the 13th State Senate District), Danny Davis (in the 7th Congressional District), and Patricia Martin, who won the race for Judge in the 7th Subcircuit Court. All four candidates attended an April 11, 1996 New Party membership meeting to express their gratitude for the party's support.

The New Party's various chapters similarly helped to elect dozens of other political candidates in a host of American cities.

One of the more notable New Party members was Carl Davidson, a Chicago-based Marxist who became a political supporter of Barack Obama in the mid-1990s.

In 1997 the New Party's influence declined precipitously after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that electoral fusion was not protected by the First Amendment's freedom of association clause. By 1998 the party was essentially defunct. Daniel Canto and other key party members went on to establish a new organization with similar ideals, the Working Families Party of New York.

This news pretty much confirms that Barack Obama is at the very least a neo-Marxist and also confirms the claim that he is one of the most far left leaning Senators we have in office today.

This man is no "new" politician, no "centrist," and not interested in ever "reaching across the aisle." This whole "new way" line of bunkum is all smoke a mirrors.

Be sure and Visit my Home blog Publius' Forum. It's what's happening NOW!

Why hasn't anyone hit on this yet? I understand that the MSM won't report this, but I figured Hannity, O'Reilly, Limbaugh, and others would be all over it.

“.....women and minorities hardest hit”

The source link for this doesn't seem very authoritative. Some digging to confirm seems warranted to avoid any premature accusations. Besides, there's plenty of confirmed Obama embarrassments for today.

- "Make love not war? Real men can do both!"

To quote Rush, "It's not the nature of the evidence, it's the seriousness of the charge."

Obama is clearly as left as presidential candidates come, but your line of thinking is partially what led to McCain's defeat in the primaries in 2000 when he was accused of fathering an illegitimate child and being a Manchurian candidate, of all things.

I'm surprised that Obama survived the Wright flap, and I get the feeling that these attacks will only resonate with those who already believe he is a Muslim.

And everbody knows Obama is the Messiah, not a Muslim.

Because it is sourced from some anonymous blog.

I concur, if nothing else lets see just how much garbage the liberal numb-skulls will over look to get this turd polished!

Added to the rest of the slivers of the pie, the effect becomes convincing because the picture it presents is so consistent. I can't think of one of these stories that does not add another nail.

If he "sought" the endorsement, doesn't that make this Marxist party Obama's pastor and spiritual adviser?

Very troubling, very troubling indeed.

No doubt Olberman will be all over this.

McCain would agree that this is dirty politics. Our candidate is above calling his opponent a marxist.

Can't they both just join hands and go to Iraq?

If there's one thing McCain loves, it's Democrats. But I'm willing to bet he hates true Marxists.

This may create some inner conflict in our nominee.

I live in Oklahoma, not NC, but I was EXTREMELY upset when he dumped on the NC GOP regarding Obama.

Even moreso when he said that the North Carolina GOP was "out of touch with reality"

Just WHICH voters is McCain trying to get to vote for him?

Dependence is Slavery.

When did we get such thin skins? What do I care what John McCain, or anyone else thinks about me, much less says about me? That he said it does not make it so.

As for my vote, it is based on his policies, not on my friendship to him. He claims to be on board for lowering taxes. That's the end of the discussion for me, I will vote for him over Obama. If it weren't for taxes, it'd be the war, or reducing earmarks or any of the other million ways he's better than Obama-- not IDEAL, but better than Obama. The time for ideals was the primary. This is the guy we've got.

The VERY VERY LAST REASON for my vote will be 'who offended me'? I don't give a rip what someone says about me, and I just see more and more on the right a tendency to adopt the feigned indignation tactics that I'm used to seeing on the left.

John McCain doesn't decide what's right, what's moral, or much else. He is a candidate for a position to be able to sign legislation into law. He is vastly superior to the other candidate. The end.

Ok folks, the basic idea here is that this is another nail in the coffin, depicting Mr. O as a Leftist. We know that.
What is going to happen, unless Mr, McCain gets his act together very soon, is that the above named folks, thier associates and the money funders of the Soros Foundations will be the sofa sitters.
Imagine the scene. All these folks, with their oars to row, sitting on sofas in the Oval Office, with the newbie elected Pres.
If this is not enough to frighten the >>>. out of any sensible person, we might as well fold our tents and go to the hills.
Continue to publish the Left List of sofa sitters, eventually this will get to the Drive By Media for thier posh tosh comments and thereby verify what we knew all along.

I'm not sure how true this is but it has been reported that Obama had Bill Ayers kick off his political career. I'm sure Ayers would agree with the goals of the "new party".

Obama's connections to Marx' idealogies and tactics

Finally, being from Chicago, I have always felt that Obama's ties to Chicago, Cook County, and Springfield government were the best way to to counter his so called "outsider's image is to tie him to those three governments where he has always been the ultimate insider and this latest news is really no surprise. This tie, along with the likes of Bill Ayers and Tony Rezko, speak a lot more about the dynamics of Chicago politics than they do about Obama. That said, Chicago is where he learned politics and that is what the public needs to know.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor

The Provocateur

Seeing "fallen heros" in the audience was most indicative of his Chicago roots. What with graveyard voters and all. ;-)

Pretty powerful stuff, but where is the proof of this besides some just saying so???

When Obama met with ACORN leaders in November, he reminded them of his history with ACORN and his beginnings in Illinois as a Project Vote organizer, a nonprofit focused on voter rights and education. Senator Obama said, "I come out of a grassroots organizing background. That's what I did for three and half years before I went to law school. That's the reason I moved to Chicago was to organize. So this is something that I know personally, the work you do, the importance of it. I've been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work.”

It is amazing that it isn't amazing that a Communist is a "respected" member of a state university faculty. It's just a matter of fact and it is not unusual, but rather typical. Granted, the majority don't "officially" declare themselves "Communists"; but they are so infested in state universities liberal arts departments and law departments that it is the norm. We are in great shape as a country!

"Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it."
-Thomas Paine: The American Crisis, No. 4, 1777

Obama is a Marxist by his statements alone. However if this story could be verified it would certainly be significant.

John McCain

Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll nominate Maxine Waters as his running mate. (^;^)

Dude's been a member of an overtly Marxist church for 20 years; this is right in line with all of his other alliances.

John McCain

As a member of the generation that stood on the wall against the USSR's attempt to have world domination, I have studied the writings of the USSR revolution, ala, the 20th century October revolution in the old Czarist Russia.
These listed folks are not current in our lexicon. Lenin, Trotsky, Marx, Stalin, but their writings are still out there and form the basis for the current generation of Leftists. Having laid out this for discussion, lets attach the writings to the speechs, the associates and the rhetoric given out daily by Mr. O. Peel back the Welfare List and listen to the second tier words, the meanings in the connective phrases. These are straight out of the original writings of the authors listed above. Mr. O, is a product of the schools that teach this garbage, in Chicago, in the Eastern Grad schools and the think tanks supporting his candidacy.
The tactics mentioned in the post, also are straight out of the October Revolution in the old Czarist regime. The means of effecting transfer of power from one holder to the Left are characterized by Election Fusion, misdirection of Candidate stances, Barriers to the Candidates position, ALA "one doesn't refer to one Mrs, this is not nice,, etc" and the list goes on.
What this boils down to is that Mr. O is a product of the Academic and Political left. He is now acknowledging such, and his Left Activists associates are beginning to come out of the woodwork. As the campaign goes into full gear ahead, this will become more and more obvious. "To H... with the stigma of being a Left Liberal, we are going to win"" will be the attitude as the summer wears on.
We have a choice, come November, Left or Center, there is no Right oriented candidate.

When Obama met with ACORN leaders in November, he reminded them of his history with ACORN and his beginnings in Illinois as a Project Vote organizer, a nonprofit focused on voter rights and education. Sorry for the mess on the previous post. I don't know how to get around here very well. I should have changed my Subject to ACORN endorses Obama. I don't know why the links went outside the box. Sorry.

when he was about university age, but I'm pretty sure he became a supply-sider well before age 46.

One of my favorite things Sowell says is his response to those liberal arts majors who say they need to "find themselves:" "When I was your age, I was trying to find rent."

Thomas Sowell's Applied Economics should be required reading for every politician running for office. He covers costs and prices (and why they are not the same), rent controls, healthcare, labor, insurance -- all the issues that these folks need to have better knowledge about. I am planning on making that book into a unit study to teach to our homeschool support group.

Thinking beyond stage one (the book's subtitle) is often out of the realm for politicians, because beyond stage one is oftentimes after their next election, so why worry about it now? Five years ago one of the arguments against ANWR drilling was "ANWR would not produce any oil for five years. We need help now." Here we are now, and ANWR would be nice to have. Think about that the next time it is projected that a rogue country would not have nuclear weapons for 5 years. (That was the projection for Iraq in 2002.)

Show me a CEO that only looks 2 years ahead, and I'll show you one that will fail.

-- A true evolutionist would let endangered species die off. Anyone care to change sides?
-- Rapture: real separation of church and state --

Maybe Applied Economics is too hard for them, beginners that most of them are.

I recently bought Sowell's Basic Economics--A Common Sense Guide to the Economy, Third Edition, which he describes as "a book for the general public or for the beginning student in economics.... Written to be read--and even enjoyed."

I've done neither as yet, but it's near the top of my stack of books to read. The newest Alexander McCall Smith novel may sneak in ahead, though.

Money & Elections

Soros' efforts go beyond spin. He has also bankrolled groups involved in the manipulation of elections, an activity that has increased since his money came into the picture. Two groups — Americans Coming Together and the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now — were sanctioned recently by the Federal Election Commission for fraud.

Soros pledged $10 million to ACT, which has since been fined $775,000 for illegally funneling $70 million set aside for voter registrations to Democratic candidates.

He also gave at least $150,000 to ACORN, the left-wing group best known for pushing minimum-wage hikes, marching for illegal-immigrant amnesty and harassing Wal-Mart. ACORN has been accused of voter fraud in 13 states since 2004 and was convicted of falsifying signatures in a voter registration drive last July, drawing a fine of $25,000 in Washington state.

Soros says he has ended funding to voter-drive organizations, but he still heads a secretive rich-man's club called "Democracy Alliance" that has doled out $20 million to activist groups like ACORN.
