By wennejunk

I came across this story on Politico re: Matt Drudge Keeps Campaign's guessing.

Its unusual to not see an article about Drudge (critical or otherwise) on Drudge, so I figured I'd send him the link and who'da thunk: it showed up a few hours later. I like to think it was I (and only I) that brought it to his attention....

Posted at 3:27pm on May 23, 2008 AGW now affecting Jupiter

By wennejunk

I don't get much free time to write lately, so this will be short, really just a link.

From Drudge: JUPITER IN THE BALANCE: Recent 'red spots' likely due to climate change...

So its just a photo and a short summary, but apparently Jupiter has been warming for the last few years as well, causing violent storms, etc.

Posted at 2:46pm on Mar. 23, 2008 Because...well it's a duty to report it

By wennejunk

I usually rely on Joliphant or Skanderberg to front these things; they are so much better at it and they add the appropriate commentary.

However, as no one else has yet posted on this, I'll do it and then rant a bit. As the title says, its a duty to keep beating the drum on what is increasingly revealing itself as outright fraud and willful disregard for the facts on Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW).

Posted at 6:37pm on Mar. 3, 2008 Priceless

By wennejunk

This Saturday, I was carrying in the groceries when a well dressed young man called out from across the street: "Excuse me sir, are you Mr. Oeylomumble mumble?" I gave the standard "What?" and he repeated himself. I recognized what he was asking and told him they used to live here and had moved away recently.

He was walking towards me during this exchange and now from much closer asked me "Well, are you a supporter of Brackaobarmarah mumble?"

Posted at 11:39am on Jan. 21, 2008 Johnny is a Genius!

By wennejunk

Received this in email this morning. Its surely an old joke, but it made me laugh:

Who is a Hillary fan?

A teacher in upstate New York asked her class how many of them are Hillary fans. Not really knowing what a Hillary fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except one boy.

The teacher asked Johnny why he has decided to be different.

Johnny says, "I'm not a Hillary fan."

Posted at 9:24am on Jan. 14, 2008 Petraeus End of Year Letter to Iraq Forces

By wennejunk

I received this link from within my West Point alumni community. This is Gen. Petraeus' letter to the soldiers - of all countries - in Iraq.

Some things stand out:

1. Progress is substantial, but reversible.

Obviously, we need to keep up the pressure on the insurgents, something the anti-war left (and RP supporters) either don't understand or care about.

By wennejunk

More evidence supporting that AGW is far from consensus:

U.S. Senate Report: Over 400 Prominent Scientists Disputed Man-Made Global Warming Claims in 2007

Probably old news, but I didn't see it posted here.

Note that many of these malcontents were participants on the UN IPCC. Ya think maybe, possibly, the IPCC took their work and comments out of context and they're fighting back?

By wennejunk

Amidst the rancor and backbiting over each of the candidates and why anyone but yours will sell us down the river, I direct your attention for a moment to something most of us can appreciate...a not so subtle poke in the ribs of the PC police:

Ladies and Gentlemen (I use that word loosely considering how un-gentlemanly many on this site have been behaving lately), I present: Merry Tossmass

Posted at 2:00am on Dec. 11, 2007 More Bad News for Huck

By wennejunk

If you think that National Review has any right discussing Conservative bona fides, and

If you think they are influential with mainstream Republicans and Conservatives

Then you will understand that this is not good for the Huck campaign.

At all.

Posted at 11:35pm on Nov. 18, 2007 Rudy Will Follow Through! Really?

By wennejunk

Just a quick comment for all those sold out Rudy partisans:

I keep reading that Rudy can be trusted, that he wouldn't dare go back on the promises/insinuations he has made regarding Constitutional judges, taxes, etc.

Here's the quick and dirty answer to this line of reasoning:

"Do you take ___ as your lawful wife/husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish until death do you part?"

Posted at 12:19am on Nov. 9, 2007 "Induced abortion is the “best predictor” of breast cancer"

By wennejunk

I get summary emails from Newsmax; today's had a synopsis of a newly published study out of England regarding correlation between Abortion and later life Breast Cancer incidence. It was authored by Patrick Carroll, M.A., Director of Research for the Pension and Population Research Institute, London.

Some key excerpts of the summary and then a link to the actual study (with lots of correlation/causation charts, hard data, etc.):

Posted at 11:19am on Oct. 28, 2007 2007 Season Disappointing - AGW crowd silent

By wennejunk

As late as May, 2007 was predicted to be another intense, scary hurricane season.

We saw the same dire predictions for 2006.

Once the Gorical and his minions linked Katrina's strength and devastation to Anthropogenic Global Warming (instead of random chance, long term weather cycles, State Government incompetence and foolish citizens) a fairly high bar had been set for Nature to comply with.

The world as we know is was going to end soon and Nature had to deliver spectacular devastation to keep with the agenda. Unfortunately for AGWers, she is apparently on vacation, still resting from 2005.

Posted at 2:18am on Oct. 16, 2007 The Tent Appears to be Shrinking

By wennejunk

I've been digesting the last few weeks' worth of comments knocking Social Conservatives and our stance against Rudy and I am moving towards the following conclusions:

1. By and large, the GOP barely tolerates Social Conservatives.

They are happy for our votes, still believe they need them, but are seriously starting to wonder if they can go it alone.

Religious voters make legislators uncomfortable. They welcome our votes, but people who have strongly held beliefs create stress and friction for people who do not. In the atmosphere of comity and compromise, acting on strongly held principles is so "not team-player".

By wennejunk

Or, at least ignorant about these particular events.

I figured I had a functional grip on most world events. I was wrong.

1 of 6 right is a bit weak. I'm sure the smarter folks here will ace the test.

Yes, it's at Reuters, but worthy of a few minutes diversion.

Go here to test.
