Fascism

Hi there little boy:

I realize you've probably gotten your rocks off several times since arriving here a few hours ago, and that you really think that your little quips are true -- and that we just don't get that truth, be it about Saddam being the fault of the U.S., Israel somehow being "fascist" (ever been there? By the way, know what "fascist" means? Yeah, didn't think so), or the UN being the US's best friend.

Anyway, after adding roughly zero to the conversation here, and lowering the IQs of the collective commentariat for a few hours, your time is up. See ya in a reeducation camp someday.

Which is the only reason I can see for you not yet having met your 72 virgin sheep.

He's got the full-on derangement syndrome. Symptoms include claiming that nobody but him knows anything other than talking points and FOX news lies, while he can add nothing to the conversation but, well, talking points and knownfacts™.

This diary, though, deserves replacement with a nice music video.

Freedom of Religion not Freedom from Religion

Hi Jeff,

The definition of Fascism is the merger of the corporation and the State. This comes from the Father of Fascism, Benito Mussolini. So yes, I am quite aware of the definition of Fascism, and am sorry to say the US is close to that idealogy with the current moron in office. Rest assured, November 2, 2008 will cure that.

You are placing your faith in a man that came up through the Chicago machine. Who has accepted bribes from indicted developers. Who has procured grants in return for a retainer. Who has procured earmarks for his wife's employer.

This is your great reformer that will cast the moneychangers from the temple ?

You are still at comical.

I do not call you this because you are an Obama supporter, or because you are a retread (somebody who has come back after already being banned once). I do not call you this because you clearly do not actually understand what fascism really means, or why trying to fit it into our current political situation is a hopeless task. I do not even call you this because you don't know how to spell "ideology."

No, I call you a nitwit because November 2, 2008 is a Sunday, which means that the only thing that will be cured that day will be Daylight Savings Time.

Thats only a Marxist definition of fascism. Fascism is when all the institutions that comprise a society, including corporations, are brought into unity to achieve the states common purpose. Fascism is precisely what Obama means when he speaks of 'unity' - everyting working together to achieve his goals.

It is rank delusion to think that, absent Israel, everything would be peachy-keen between the West and Islamofascists.

And here's some empirical data for you: Number of functioning democracies in the Middle East = 1.0.

There. I didn't call you a name. And thank you for your service.

Oh, and careful throwing around the F-bomb. How 'bout some empirical data to support that?

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Must-win situations are not a familiar place for the San Antonio Spurs.
They survived one Thursday night, earning the chance to play in another.
The defending champions beat the New Orleans Hornets, 99-80 in Game 6, staying alive and forcing a winner-take-all Game 7 on Monday in New Orleans.

Fast Facts

• Manu Ginobili sank a career playoff high six 3-pointers en route to his 25 points in Game 6. His previous high was four (done eight other times).

• Tim Duncan is averaging better than 27 points and 13 rebounds in best-of-7 elimination games, leading the Spurs to five wins in eight tries.

• With their 99-80 loss, the Hornets fall to 16-27 this season (including the playoffs) in games in which they fail to score 100 points. In games where they eclipse 100 points they are 47-3.

Ugggg....

It's gonna take ALOT of deprogramming to show America the *real* America, if conservatism ever gets back to the mainstream.

Just how do you know that is so ?

It's about Trust..Are people going to ever going to Trust the Oil co.'s enough to drill in Alaska.....Once people trust something they can then fight for it.

Nihilist Mints
Nihilists don’t believe in flavor! Each sleek, black 3" x 3/4" x 5/8" tin contains sixty completely flavorless mints.

Heavy equipment, harsh conditions, high pressures all conspire to creat risk in producing and transporting oil. It takes good practices and watchful eyes to avert spills. There've been several minor spills/leaks on the North Slope and along the TAPS but nothing that couldn't be cleaned up quickly and without lasting damage. Most of this spills are attributable to aging plant and, somewhat, to sketchy maintenance during the lean years. It was a budding scandal here about how the State went along with the poor maintenance until the Veco scandal knocked it off the radar.

Of course, when someone questions whether drilling in Alaska is safe, what they're really thinking about is the Exxon Valdez grounding. Hazelwood, the purportly alcoholic Captain, made such an attractive target that the facts of the grounding have been lost. Hazelwood had been drinking before departure but he went to his cabin and went to sleep. I don't know if the tanker company had a "bottle to throttle" rule, but Hazelwood did not have the conn and was not on watch at the time, nor did he have any obligation to be on the bridge. Ship's Captains are rarely, if ever, the Watchstander, that's what Mates do. When the Exxon Valdez struck Bligh Reef, a Mate had the conn and best I recall only the Mate and the Helmsman were on the bridge - the common practice on big ships underway. The error was the Mate's, not the Captain's though a Captain is ultimately responsible. Yet, most people who know anything at all of the incident will tell you the grounding and the spill were caused by the Captain being drunk with the implication that the drunken Captain steered the vessel into the reef. Didn't happen that way at all.

Though there is no excuse for it, it is the sort of thing that happens to ships - and airplanes - from time to time; the person at the controls has a moment of inattention or loses their situational awareness and something bad happens. Alaska's ferry system has very skilled and experienced Masters, but they've bounced off more than a few rocks and docks over the years, including the nearly catastrophic grounding of the M/V LeConte on a marked reef in daylight and calm seas a few years back due to the loss of situational awareness by the Mate on Watch. It happens.

What's ironic is that people are so concerned about the American flagged tankers in the Alaska trade, which have a very good safety record and are now almost all double bottomed as well - though that has its downsides. Nobody pays any attention to the foreign flagged rust buckets with slave crews that bring oil to the rest of the country.

child of socialism try to call conservatives fascists.

Mussolini was one of their boys. 8*)

One of these days they'll wake up a realize that National Socialism was also truly a branch of socialism that was prominent in it's name. Yep, Adolph was one of their boys too.

Of course history has never been a strong suit with the left.

Socialism doesn't work. It looks nice on paper, but it's been tried and it's failed miserably every time (usually accompanied by widespread death and suffering).
